Just don't allow the nytimes.com and nyt.com javascript programs to run.

Firefox with NoScript is how I get past nearly all paywalls. I wouldn't browse without it.

8. I have been able to see all of these links, even though I don't have a subscription.

I think it may be because I DO have a registration on their site from when I used to have a subscription with them, so, if people can't see the links, maybe they will show up if you register (free to do) and just browse them while logged in.
