(48,878 posts)These election results might make her rethink the wisdom of currying GOP approval. Or not. We'll see how that plays out.

(6,448 posts)to put Arizona first. Her first sentence nails it as they both have said they will be independent and party comes second.

I think that's the best strategy, but I'm not a party machine insider.

(63,993 posts)His name escapes me now, but I know there was a Representative or a state pol who would suffice. He was brought up as a possibility over the last year or so.
Hard to imagine a Democrat who could be worse than Kyrsty.

No question that if he runs he will clear the field against here.
Sinema has to be stunned by D sweep. Expect her to start sponsoring progressive legislation. Guessing she will start with Dreamers legislation.

(8,170 posts)Or should I ask: Does he have an established record and an experienced politician in AZ?

(12,744 posts)I dont think he can win statewide. His district is the bluest in the state, and hell need to move to the center for the state. Of course if the Rs put up another nut job .

(12,744 posts)Hes already in Congress, so he has a record to run on - and he replaced Sinema in the House. But for some reason Phoenix mayors have trouble in statewide elections. Youd think that would be a stepping stone to the governorship, but it isnt.
brush
(61,033 posts)not governorship?
AZSkiffyGeek
(12,744 posts)So that might hamper Stanton running for Senate. I think hed be good though. Fontes would as well, but I think hes probably eyeing governor next.
brush
(61,033 posts)Ok, maybe it's in the cards for him to take her Senate seat.

(12,744 posts)Would you want someone with a 10% approval campaigning for you? Sorry, this hate Sinema for not campaigning after 2 years of telling her she not welcome in the party is dumb.

(3,748 posts)No one has forgotten anything shes done. I will be REAL surprised if she makes it out of the primaries. No. Way. In. Hell.
brush
(61,033 posts)soon...which means she will be primaried. We haven't forgotten how many times she torpedoed the two Dem infrastructure bills, ultimately resulting in one not passing and the other drastically reduced in size.

(14,753 posts)At least until Rev Warnock wins because she's exactly the type to listen to Mitch's promises and jump ship without looking at what's happened when she's listened to Mitch's promises.
After the runoff? Fuck her
