Hate is NOT a Christian Family Value.

At the very nicest interpretation of their behavior, they are lost souls who totally should re-read the Bible and ESPECIALLY the NEW Testament, because they are being shoveled a whole lot of crapola disguised as "truth".

It's not lost on me that when the walls came tumbling down, the Israelites slaughtered almost everyone in Jericho.

It is still used in Jewish rituals. What's going on in AZ refers to the Battle of Jericho, as described in the Book of Joshua, in which the walls of Jericho fell after the Israelites marched around the city walls for seven days and then blew their shofars. I think these guys were trying to make the building fall down so they couldn't count ballots or something.

And at least for some of them, the various sounds made with them are meant to sound like certain Hebrew words -- the beginning of certain prayers, if I'm remembering correctly.

I assume that in ancient times it served as a call to prayer, like the muzzein's call. It was also used in wartime, as in the story of Jericho, and in that case, I asume that the various sounds were military orders.

Used to take his out and practice on it for quite a while before those religious. I remember his grumbling at the crappy sounds he made when he started trying to get his lips and mouth back in shape. It took him a few days to get it sounding right.

I have no idea why these MAGAts think it's appropriate to blow it on a city street corner in Arizona.

… because in their arrogance they think everything in the Bible is theirs to cut and paste. Their disrespect for actual Jews is legendary.

The most important modern use of the shofar in religious ceremonies takes place on Rosh Hashana, when it is sounded in the synagogue to call the Jewish people to a spiritual reawakening as the religious New Year begins on Tishri 1.

…of Evangelicals is that Jews are only forerunners to themselves, and that they (Evangelical Christians) are the replacements (if you will) for everyone else, most of all Jesus’ people.

There’s obviously some overlap, but White Christian Nationalists and Evangelicals are not the same thing.
