Is the State of California.

I wouldn't say participating in an educational event at a public university meets the definition of crossing a picket line.

12. Actually, it's the University of California, not the state. Yang spoke at UC Irvine, so yes he crossed a picket line

48,000 of the UC system’s most exploited academic employees are on strike for better wages. Which they deserve.

Attending an academic function at a public university is not the same thing as providing scab labor or purchasing from a corporation.

14. The point of crossing/not crossing a picket line is that it's a statement about which side you're on

Ask..they will tell you the issues. Mr Yang knows that. He can also include Scab on his resume

One I'm familiar with is a federal government employee whose office happens to be inside the private facility where the strike is occuring. The Fed employee cannot strike, and has a duty to show up at their duty station, even if there isn't anything to oversee because of a contractor strike.

10. Thanks. I always learn something here. However, my point..Mr Yang is not a federal employee

And UCI is not a federal building. About 48,000 academic workers are striking for better wages n working conditions..among other issues. For his hefty speaking fee, He should have vetted his invitation and realized the issues. As a retired Union member, he should at least make nice..maybe apologize
