(10,481 posts)Tumblr die because they stopped letting people post porn on it. Instant death. Elon is speed running to kill a company in record time.

(17,240 posts)on twitter... I have been logged on tonight and I am not seeing any difference?
The only thing I am seeing is lot of posts about it going down. Am I missing something? I am not an Elon Fan by any stretch, just curious what I should be looking for?

(43,850 posts)Tweeting all kinds of bizarre things himself, one set of accountsnot sure if its real because reality is long gonesaying Elon managed to lock himself and the remaining people out when thy nullified the badges, etc. Every other trending topic is about bailing or watching it burn.
Dont know what tomorrow will bring but its impressive as hell.

I had very few of these previously, now there seem to be several every day. No problem, I just ignore them. Thanks for following me! lol

(5,410 posts)it may help your account a tiny bit.
Just don't follow them back, that is what they are trying to accomplish.

(58,785 posts)Twitter's value to the world isn't Musk or its staff, or its stock price. It's the users -- information sharers from every field -- who turned Twitter from another platform to a planetwide central square for everyone from Renaissance scholars to reporters on insurgencies to meet in.
Professional users with followings and communications within their fields that they need to tend are of course concerned. I've seen a lot remaining serenely with Twitter while opening accounts elsewhere to transfer to if they need to. What proportion have actually left?

(9,100 posts)In fact it's been a hilarious evening, what with the updates about Musk's latest antics and the reactions from rebellious staffers and ordinary users.
It will go down in good time if some way isn't found to reinstate or restaff the tech functions, though.

(9,100 posts)I encountered some chitchat on one of the hashtags between RWers/Musk fans who've been crowing about clearing out the liberals and claiming the fact the site hasn't gone *poof* proves that the workers weren't needed and didn't do anything anyway.
I don't think those people are very tech-savvy. Much jealousy toward those who are and actually get paid for it, but for some reason Musk gets a free pass from them.

(6,017 posts)Maybe other oligarchs kicked in a few billion directly to Musk, or will if he's successful. I can think of a handful off-hand including Putin & friends.

tinrobot
(12,062 posts)He made an impulse purchase for something he didn't really need and severely overpaid for the privilege.
He also has no idea how to run a media company. You can't bully people like he does with his assembly lines.

(7,191 posts)The owner sold it for hundreds of millions to a large company, the name of which everyone would recognize. The large company hired a CEO who knew nothing about the business model for the start up, and within a couple of years had run it completely into the ground. The original owner came back in and re-purchased it for pennies on the dollar and, last I heard, was doing really well with it again. So maybe the originator of Twitter will come back in and re-purchase it once its about to go under.

(297 posts)Or the next few weeks but with basically a Skeleton crew being all that's left maintaining it your gonna see lots more lag, lots more downtimes, and possible date breaches.
It's actually incredible how badly Musk screwed up. I predict he eventually ether jumps ship to try and save face or is forced out somehow.. and Twitter is then bought for a fraction of what it was worth when he bought it and the company has to spend years rebuilding. Basically the same thing that happened with Tumblr

The air smells fresher, the Sun shines brighter, the birds sing their songs with more gusto.
The grass looks greener and the wind in the trees sings it song with more joy.
Co-incidence? Maybe, maybe not.
But try it, you might like it.
