A special prosecutor is a good thing.....

He is non-partisan, it is fully funded, it is relatively quick and can't be derailed by the GQP easily. These are the same reasons I was calling for a special prosecutor for tRump in 2017.

I doubt Garland will edit 90% out of the report like Barr did.

That, alone, makes it a good thing. Yeah, I wish he had done it sooner, but I'm betting it doesn't take as long as many believe it will. I suspect there's some underlying things we don't know about that drove this decision. Credible threats of violence by RWNJs, perhaps.

and he thinks this will get moving within a few days...very quickly. This won't drag on and on since a lot has already been gained by the FBI.

He was caught red handed months ago in possession of top secret documents and it still took many more months.

the scope of Smith's responsibilities also include investigating the plots to subvert the orderly Presidential transition of power (but specifically excluding all the dumbshit Jan 6 insurrectionists that invaded the Capitol).

I strongly suspect that also means certain Republican members of Congress might be sweating mightily over this appointment.

It’s hard to completely understand but I’m still hanging on in the Garland camp. It’s not just laws but strategy n timing n we gotta be absolutely correct.. for the present n the future should another president try to destroy our institutions n democracy. Jmo

Chuck Rosenberg, Neal Katyal, Matthew Miller, etc. all make good cases against a special prosecutor. They all make good arguments. I guess, like everything else in the past 6 years, we will have to wait and see if this will have a positive or negative outcome.

Who knows anymore. Everything is so fucked up and will likely continue.
