Why would Trump need a pardon? I mean, he's innocent, right Geraldo?

For the good of the nation, Ford pardoned Nixon.
For the good of the nation, Biden should pardon Trump.

Seems I recall a bit more harsh repercussions.

3. Ford pardoned Nixon, and then we got Reagan with the same team and more lawbreaking.

Followed by HW Bush, with the same team and more lawbreaking.

Followed by Shrub, with the same team and more lawbreaking.

And then we got Trump.

Perhaps government corruption should be nipped in the bud, instead of being allowed to regroup and make a comeback.

There is a reason Roger Stone has been pulling his "dirty tricks" for 50 years, and it is not because it is good for the nation.

is a big part of why Trump happened. And the next one will be worse until someone answers to the law.

If there had not been a pardon for Nixon we may not have this mess now.
Who knows.

6. Subsequent events have made clear that pardoning Nixon was not for the good of the nation

The pardon allowed conservative partisans to whitewash the whole thing as a "political stunt" and "a coup attempt by the president's enemies." It gave license for abuse of presidential power to every Republican president since. That pardon is one of the things that set the Republican party on its path to Trump.

7. What's good for the Nation is one thing

We are all tired and sick of it. But, what's "good for the nation" is undefined.

What's good for the Nation is probably what's good for Democracy. It's not like Trump is going to disappear. If the "Good of the Nation" is that We the People would not be troubled with Trump or his family, then Trump would disappear. But, we know that he is not going to disappear unless he is strongly encouraged to do so.

Not only that, but we have that pesky "No one is above the law" ethic to contend with. We are a nation based on laws. It is the hallmark of our society, and until we actually SEE Trump tried in Court, our country will not be good, by any means.

I don't know why Rivera would pop up and say this. Joe Biden would not be Joe Biden if he did not at least consider the effect of pardon vs. imprisonment, but I think he knows that the country needs to see Trump punished for basically being a spy. It can't happen any other way, and we are not the same people we were years ago.

Trump has to disappear. Whether its down the black hole of a Super Max, or self exile to some other shore, he has to go. He is a threat to our Democracy; no sooner than he would receive a pardon, he would start up again. We'd be back to square one. The only other satisfactory result would be, sad to say, if he just dropped dead.

He and his friends must smell something coming. Probably the SC. I love the smell of an indictment in the morning.

It was obvious then and even more obvious now.

Long past time to end the lie that it was for the good of the nation.
