Hydrogen Fuel coming soon for air travel

https://aerospaceamerica.aiaa.org/features/hydrogen-coming-to-an-aircraft-near-you/

This is possible, but it's going to take some work. It's a surely a worthy bigtime investment for airlines, but is it for airplane manufacturers,
absolutely it is.

There is lot to do. The idea of solar panels in space far enough out in geosynchronous orbit so not to be incumbered by existing satellites which could using microwaves transmit the power back to Earth is technically plausible.

But watch out, you don't want to be in a plane anywhere near that microwave beam - it would disintegrate those Nacho's Jim.

Mass transit, reduction of energy use, smart use of finite resources, everything from food waste, down to the non-use of carbon based fuels as well as the human manufactured myriad of polymer plastics is on the agenda.

This could be something different than what we currently have at hand.

This age could and should be called the New Renaissance/ and it has to be all inclusive otherwise it won't work.

It's not a promise / it will depend on all of us.

Sounds Utopian, farfetched, well it sure did when da vinci was around, but hell, you got to try - and Leo didn't have the benefit of wifi - or is it a curse/ what would he say - "what the heck is wifi" is what he would have said.

If you ever tried something that seemed impossible at first, and then, you found another cylinder that pushed you forward that you never knew you held, you found yourself, but it wasn't like nobody pushed it on you, you did it with the help of friends, people you love and trusted. You went from being clueless about what you could do to realization that you were clueless once, and yet you wanted more - it was a good lesson for you once.

And anyway - this is a highfalutin way if looking forward I know. So call me crazy if you will by all means.
I appreciate any response.

any response at all.

3. If you've got the energy you can make conventional jet fuel from atmospheric or oceanic CO2.

Then you don't have to build any far-fetched hydrogen planes. You can use the planes and technologies you've already got.

Unfortunately nobody is going to quit using less expensive jet fuels made from petroleum or other fossil fuels until those fuels are banned.

6. "nobody is going to quit using less expensive jet fuels". +1.. It's all about the $$$$...

Make the fuel and infrastructure less expensive and they will "flock" to it..
sorry, I could not help the pun....

4. They are a lot of application where production of hydrogen is a poor use of electrical energy.

Battery powered EV's are 2x more efficient at using electricity then using it to produce and compress hydrogen for use in fuel cell vehicle more so if the hydrogen burned in converted internal combustion engines. It might make sense for trucking or transportation. It is also inefficient for heating buildings. Electric heat pumps are 5x more efficient at heating homes then using hydrogen. Likewise for energy storage. Battery storage is .much more efficient the using hydrgen storage then later converting it to electricity.. There are more efficient energy storage methods like gravity storage systems that are up to 50% more efficient at energy storage the using hydrogen.

which is important for flying. If it's practical in any application, it's probably flying (it is, after all, used already as rocket fuel, for that reason).

8. Hydrogen is also difficult to contain, witness the recent delays in the Artemis launch...

Handling hydrogen was one of the problems my grandfather, an aerospace engineer, was working on in the 'fifties.

It's telling we're still having problems with hydrogen more than sixty years later.

For a given amount of energy jet fuel is much easier to contain.

You can't do this with hydrogen:

5. Let's hope they have improved the use of hydrogen since 1937

The Hindenburg wasn’t powered by hydrogen, but used it to keep aloft. That didn’t end well. Anything as combustible as hydrogen needs a lot of safety measures in place before use.
