COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Friday afternoon around 2:00 p.m., deputies with the El Paso County Sheriff's Offices responded to reports of a bomb threat on Rubicon Drive in the Lorson Ranch neighborhood, just south of the Colorado Springs Airport.
The suspect, 21-year old Anderson Lee Aldrich, refused to comply with deputies' orders to surrender. It was reported to the Sherrif's Office that he had a homemade bomb, multiple weapons, and ammunition.
A Tactical Support Unit, which includes the Regional Explosives Unit was called in. Around 10 homes were evacuated in the surrounding area, while an emergency text notification was sent out to homes within a 1/4-mile radius of the address.
The Regional Explosives Unit cleared both homes and did not find any explosive devices.
At around 6:00 p.m., the suspect was taken into custody and has been booked into the El Paso County Jail. Aldrich faces two counts of Felony Menacing and three counts of First-Degree Kidnapping.

(3 posts)The report says the caller was being threatened by her son -- so she probably didn't press charges.
That plus the fact the club was having a drag night suggests misogyny.
I'm still having trouble doping out three counts of kidnapping, which strongly suggests multiple victims. Perhaps he forcibly moved his mother without her consent three times.
Today's media members remain utterly inequipped to report on legal matters.

(1,384 posts)will answer these questions shortly, then law enforcement will catch up. It could be he still lives with his Mother, also could be the felony charges were adjudicated so the suspect basically walked with a promise to behave himself & seek therapy. The suspect is currently listed as living in an apartment with a 44-year-old female. The female may be his mother.
Online records show Aldrich with an apartment complex address in Colorado Springs. Online records indicate he lives with a 44-year-old woman who works as a support engineer.
Authorities would not comment on any past criminal history for Anderson Aldrich. There is no ongoing court case listed for Anderson Aldrich in Colorado court records.

5. When the police knew he was, minimally, a "troubled" young man, yet he had a gun. How? If he's mentally ill and had acted out before, why wasn't he institutionalized, or monitored. Where did the gun come from?
