After Army Vet's Heroic Actions in a Gay Bar, GOP Lawmakers Release Anti-Woke Manifesto

Two days after a U.S. Army veteran took down a man spraying bullets in a Colorado gay club, a pair of Republican lawmakers released a report accusing the Biden administration of “weakening America’s warfighters” with wokeness, in part by “promoting LGBTQ+ individuality” in the Defense Department.

On Tuesday, ten GOP senators joined in, co-sponsoring a bill to cut off funding for a Pentagon diversity and inclusion measure. And outside of government, top conservatives from Senate candidates to media personalities to former Trump administration national-security leaders chose, in the wake of the massacre of five club patrons during a drag show, to up their rhetorical assaults on LGBTQ+ Americans, including those who serve in uniform.

Colorado’s latest mass-murder-by-AR-15—allegedly by a right-wing, conspiracy-obsessed 22-year-old—comes amid a rise in violence against LGBTQ+ Americans and a sustained campaign, led by right-wing Christian politicians, of rhetoric and legislation intended to isolate and demonize them. “Extremist candidates and their well-funded allies have spent at least $50 million in political ads spreading disinformation and attacking LGBTQ+ people — and especially transgender youth — in the 2022 midterm elections,” by Human Rights Campaign’s count.

LGBTQ+ people made up 12 percent of active duty troops in 2018, according to the most recent edition of RAND Corporation’s periodic health survey. A decade-plus of increasing legal and other support for LGBTQ+ troops—interrupted by President Trump’s 2019 order restricting service by trans people—has continued under the Biden administration.

Just like CRT, cancel culture, Hillary's emails, Bengahzi, Obama having the IRS go after conservatives,
the threat from trans or gay people, "fake news," ANFIFA, the big guber-mint coming for you guns, defunding
the police, the real picked on people are white males, and on and on.

“weakening America’s warfighters” with wokeness kind of like getting Bigfoot insurance.

It certainly isn't what idiot Conservatives say it is, but there is, in fact, a concept of "woke" which has been in use, especially in Black American culture since at least the 1930's.

We do want to deny the right wing's bastardization of concepts, but we can't go out there and simply say, "there is no such thing as..." when there clearly is.

If there was, "no such thing as..." then the right would not have any term or concept to bastardize.

If the military is adapting an approach to teaching diversity, it is because they understand that having a "woke" military is a strength not a weakness. I am no fan of the concept of a perpetual war machine, as our military has been, but they absolutely know their business, and there business if fighting wars, or diverting them by having a strong military. I will defer to them.

Literally, Conservatives continue to live in a fantasy where the kings and queens of old, the aristocracy was a viable and sustainable form of government. Conservatism is based on the defense of the concept of Monarchy. Certainly, especially in America, they did away with the concept that literal hereditary monarchy was good, but they NEVER abandoned the conceptual framework that some type of "nobility", which they settled on being Wealthy White Men is ordained by God or "Nature's God" to be in charge.

Their ideology is not sustainable using naturalistic observation (the world as it is), so they create the fantasy. Unfortunately a lot of people fall for the fantasy so we have to keep dealing with Conservatives.

My concern is that we keep ceding ground to the idiots. They made Political Correctness into a bad term, CRT, and now woke. I don't think it is wise for us to give ground on those concepts. What they call "PC" is respect for human dignity, especially for marginalized people. CRT is a robust framework from which people study the development of the legal system in the United States which has been inexorably linked to the concept of "race". The law has never been, and is not now blind and neutral. Woke is a term that Black Americans used to make sure that other Black Americans stayed attuned to the danger they were in, literally because of their history of treatment in the United States.

Summer of 2019 or 2020 a group of dumb asses in Brandenberg, KY gathered @ the base of
a confederate statue (which the city of and the university of Louisville wanted no part of so they gave
it to Brandenberg, KY) because their "face book pages" told them that some barges from Cincinnati,
OH that were loaded with BLM & ANTIFA people were coming down the OH River to attack the
statue.

.... both sides when it comes to the civil war." And i started thinking you mean the side that was fighting
to violently end the United States of America so 200 to 300 rich families can own human beings as slaves?
And almost none of those rich families were doing the fighting they had the poor and working class doing the
fighting for them.

How do you fight this idiocy? Sad to say death (natural death) and/or prison is the only way for some of these
people to have their neurons stop firing as they do.

If not, I suggest they shut the fuck up about anything having to do with readiness. The reality is that gay, lesbian, transgender people, and everyone in between have been serving proudly and steadfastly in our military for as long as we have had a military. Women had signed up to serve in war, disguising themselves as men. If someone signs up to serve this country in the military, who gives a flying fuck what their sexual orientation or gender expression is. Are they willing to fight? Are they wiling to sacrifice? Are they willing to give the best of themselves to defend the nation? THAT is what is important.

im not promoting or recommending it but but i wonder if every time there was an attack the the lgbtq+ community the community struck back at institutions pushing the violence. a homophobe kills people at a gay bar, and in response a member of the community attacks a church pushing hate. basically making the haters feel as unsafe as they make the community feel
