Governor-elect Katie Hobbs was welcomed to the office by the current governor, Doug Ducey on Wednesday as he offered to make the transition from his government to hers a peaceful and easy one.

It's something that Hobbs' chief of staff highlighted in a tweet as well. It harkens back to Jan. 6, when Donald Trump refused to cooperate with a peaceful transition for his presidency.

Meanwhile, the failed Republican opponent, Kari Lake, continued her conspiracy about her election loss and pledged that she was going to launch her court case that would ultimately deliver her a victory.
Were on a timeline. A very strict timeline when it comes to fighting this botched election, and theyre dragging their feet. They dont want to give us the information, so were asking the courts to force them," she tweeted.

(4,818 posts)I wish Gore would have fought like this rather than "high-roading" the 2000 election. He didn't want to plunge the country into turmoil?
Well, because of that high-roadig, we got irreversible climate change, 9/11 (I think he would have listened to the warnings), and multiple never-ending wars. Just think: no "Patriot" Act, no Iraq, no Afghanistan, and protection for our descendants' world.
We should have at least SOME of the passion of the loonies, rather than just "vote harder". Nice guys finish last.
I pre-emptively state that no, I don't think we should dress in tactical gear or 3-cornered hats and storm the Capitol, but act more like a football team fighting hard for a win. We keep letting the reich wing get away with shit because we're too "nice". They're winning the passion war.

(4,818 posts)and in the popular mind with the passion that the reich wing uses -- if we want to defeat them. Hold rallies. Yell "You lie!" like they did to Obama. Blame the billionaires who own most of the world. Roe brought up some of that kind of passion. We need a LOT more.
There are so many crimes that just got swept under the rug after some lame struggle. Emoluments. Nepotism. Stochastic terror. Mass murder. Treason. Fossil money corruption. Untracked trillions of covid money. Etc. There's too much at stake. We're facing existential threats comparable to WWII - or worse.
Nations are finally acknowledging that the climate crisis is a national security issue, and they're trying to buy off the victims of our bloatmobile culture with a few bucks. Wait until half the global south tries to immigrate because they're poverty stricken and flooded out. Pakistan's a nuclear power. There will be major violence. That's just one dimension of what we're facing.
I say fight with passion and compassion.

(4,818 posts)I just wish Gore and the party had fought harder, rather than being polite. No turmoil from that can compare with the following 20 some years. I understand his impulse away from conflict, but we got conflict anyway. Possibly termianl harm.
When has a democrat ever stood up to a lying Rethug and yelled "You lie!" like one did to Obama? I bet that brought in votes for the Rethug, just for the passionate drama.
Humans are usually more emotional than rational. The reich-wing is better at pushing emotional hot buttons. They know that rage and fear become addictive. What can we counter that with? Honest question.

(53,061 posts)Ducey would have liked to run but isn't going to for the same reason Flake didn't.
It is unlikely that Ducey could win the primary, and if he did survive that bloody civil war he wouldn't have a unified party behind him.
Ducey has also alienated teachers and parents with his education funding debacle.
Ducey isn't a career politician, he can return to the business world with a fraction of the grief and make more money, which is what Flake did.

(33,424 posts)He did not run against Kelly because he thought Kelly was a strong candidate. (It turns out Kelly was not. Kelly only got 51% of the vote against a flawed candidate who was unknown in AZ before the primary). Also Trump was against Ducey but that will be yesterday's news in 2024.
Can Raúl Grijalva win a state wide primary against someone like Stanton and Sinema? Maybe. But I highly doubt he can win a general election against a major name like Ducey. Grijalva is really not known outside his district. A major factor in whether Grijalva or Stanton run against Sinema in 2024 is what its looks like in the House future. If the Rs look like they will keep control they will be more likely to run. It is not fun being in the minority in the House.
Yes, Ducey can go back into business. But he is still young and he has plenty of time to do that.
grantcart
(53,061 posts)Grijalva has publicly acknowledged he has a drinking problem and it has effected his staff relationships including an ethics probe. I have seen him at a mid day event and he was already in a compromised state. If you see him in person he doesn't look well.
I don't know anyone who thinks Grijalva is suitable for a statewide race.
It is no secret that the odds on favorite in the Democratic party to take out Sinema is Ruben Gallego who is seen more and more often on national TV. As a combat marine he has strong appeal to McCain Republicans.
Your facts on Duceys favorability rating is way off. Last poll he was at 35%.
It wasn't just Trump that was against Ducey, AZ Republican Chair Kelli Ward and Ducey have been in open warfare for years and that is the inter party war that a primary would ignite and why Ducey isn't going to run.

Also, as others stated, Ducey has many obstacles to winning both a primary and a general, and may not even wish to run.
