Trump Got An Early Thanksgiving Present

N.Y. enacted a law the Adult Survivors Act which allows victims of sexual assault whose time limits have expired to sue. The new law is in effect for 1 year and then expires. E. Jean Carroll's attorney electronically filed her law suit at midnight last night with an added surprise for Donnie. Carroll's amended law suit now isn't just for defamation but also includes sexual assault. Happy turkey day Donnie.

Carroll's original law suit has been tied up in the courts where the courts are deciding whether defaming someone is an official duty of the president. Merrick Garland thinks it is, he chose to defend Trump (the office) in E. Jean Carroll's law suit. A district judge ruled it was not an official duty but that decision has been appealed by Trump.

Because the dumbass can't keep his mouth shut. I would think his statements which are identical as an ex-President should count in the lawsuit.

Merrick Garland was defending him. (the office)

This suit has been going on since 2019 so just imagine if DOJ ever decides to indict Trump when that trial would occur? 2026?

I have been harping about why time matters in indicting Trump.

but I think it is better for the democratic party for Trump to launch a holy war for the primary and burn the place down.

That of course comes with some risk.

Barr chose to defend the office of the presidency which means that DOJ substitutes for Trump in court. Merrick Garland became AG, he did not have to stay on in defense of the office, but he did.

Of course technically Garland isn't defending Trump in court, he is defending the office of the presidency which means that he believes that defaming someone is an official duty of the president. A district judge disagreed with Barr/Garland and claimed it wasn't an official duty, whereupon Trump appealed. If Trump were to win the appeal it would have been a much harder case for Carroll to win seeing as DOJ would be taking the place of Trump in court.

Carroll is one determined woman. She's out for justice and won't let it go like most every damn prosecutor in the DOJ. She's got guts.

I think we should have made her Attorney General.

Why not just extend or eliminate the statute of limitations? I get it, but in its current form, that smacks of a bill of attainder. Dangerous and unconstitutional. I'm sure Donnie's legal thugs will argue that.

Makes me think - do I have this right? Is defaming another person an official duty of the President??? Seriously???
