Advice from Robert Reich on what to say at Thankgiving dinner:

If inflation comes up at the dinner table tonight, don’t forget to draw attention to the deeper structural driver of inflation: the concentration of the American economy in the hands of a few corporate giants with the power to raise prices, even as they rake in record profits.

My wife and I were very busy all day, so she went out and picked up a pizza. Large, with garlic, artichoke hearts and mushrooms. It used to cost €8.80- Now it was an even €10.

But the Italian place we get it from has been there for over 40 years. The quality is always good, and the service as well. Seeing as how the business has been run by German-speaking Italians and people from other Adriatic and Aegean locations, they don't feel in the slightest affected by the "concentration of the American economy in the hands of a few corporate giants." Their place has always been well patronized, so I doubt they have been raking in record profits compared to other times. I'm sure they do just fine, one way or the other. Like several of the restaurants in town here, they get some of their stuff from the open-air farmers market that has been held in our town center three times a week for the last 800 years or so. I don't think that American corporate giants are much on the local people's minds here. I'm sure they played even less of a role before the Pilgrims landed on some continent most Germans didn't even know existed at the time.

Reich would have no problem with your story. One of the things he likes to point out is that some of US inflation is global and legitimate. So many R's are trying to blame all inflation on Biden (and other Dems).
