NEW: Special Counsel Smith - on thanksgiving - sends a letter to the 11th circuit pointing out a fatal flaw in one of trumps arguments in the documents case. Trump tried to argue a court forced the government to allow a special master in the Rudy case. 1/

Mueller, She Wrote @MuellerSheWrote
Jack Smith points out thats a lie. First, it was the governments idea for a special master in the Rudy case. Second, Rudys a lawyer. Third, docs were released on rolling basis. Finally, Rudy didnt have a civil proceeding invoking bullshit jurisdiction. LOL BAD ASS! END/

(23,705 posts)but that being said, Smith is clearly all OVER this process (since this is all he has to do, as opposed to running the DOJ).
I'm pleased with his effort thus far.

(9,348 posts)he didn't really know one would be needed unti after the midterms, when the House was taken over by MAGAts screaming, among other things, "Impeach Merrick Garland!"
No, they couldn't stop him from doing his job ... but they could make it a lot harder and more hellish, and far more delayed.
Of course that's just my opinion.

(9,759 posts)As much as he could, and (in part) if so, that strategy worked so far and he waited to see what hair furhair would do as he said (running for the Fascists nomination).
Now that almost all his anti-democracy loons lost, the time to go after the orange criminal is before the 90-days pre-election period (whether hair furhair is the nominee or not).
An indictment followed by a criminal trial in which a conviction would ensue will be appealed up to the supremely corrupt court if a guilty verdict (must be unanimous) results in a conviction. That whole process could take months.

(8,837 posts)take kindly to Trump trashing his wife...when Trump targeted Georgia election workers Ruby Freeman and her daughter Shaye Moss, they were in no position to fight back ..Jack Smith is a hard-ass take-no-shit lawyer..there's no way he's going to let Trump's revenge fueled poison go unanswered...

Truly perplexing.. The ultimate extreme of both.
The worst part of all of it, is the entire nation must endure witnessing it every single day and every single hour long past his shelf life.
it's pretty messed up when there's more like him getting elected, holding offices, and getting appointed to courts across the countrry.
How in the hell do we end this madness?

(20,561 posts)Ive lost count of the supposed saviors. The hero worship is little more than unintentional comedy at this point. Like when half the forum thought Michael Avenatti was going to take Trump down.
bigtree
(94,213 posts)...and 'hero worship' is a derisive term that almost always originates in the user's (cynic's) own imagination.
(should have said 'or two')
Martin68
(27,682 posts)either a desperate need for someone to look up to and/or a mistaken understanding of who the object of worship really is.
bigtree
(94,213 posts)...and an undue insult directed at a community of people who you may expect to respect your own opinions as something other than fealty to something or someone.
What's more deluding is angst expressed without ANY reference to anything that's actually occurring. It's not exactly brilliant to suppose someone isn't what you suppose someone else thinks of them.
If you take a moment to read the underlying court action, you may find this post to be not only encouraging, but informative, as well. Certainly not 'hero worship,' or whatever other derision you've conjured out of your own antipathy to this administration's DOJ (apathy, based curiously on some other president's DOJ).
Martin68
(27,682 posts)silly and over-excited language that was a significant distraction, detracting from the informative mission of the post.

bigtree
(94,213 posts)...really nasty, derisive projection.
Here, you've taken your contempt for this Democratic administration's Justice Dept. and projected that GDS onto people who won't see the value you apparently do in meanness and derisive attacks on their expressing hope and optimism along with the progress from DOJ.
But, you do you.

In all seriousness, we dont know what Jack Smith is yet. Hero or zero? Maybe in between? Who knows. But clearly many people here have decided he is the silver bullet. One would think they would learned to, as you put it, wait and see.
bigtree
(94,213 posts)...one post.
(btw, the only ones I found in my search were your own, claiming people were calling him a hero)
EVERYONE is 'waiting and seeing.' Some of us believe support and optimism is better than constant derision. EVERY time there's a new development that signals progress and people note it here, there are the same few folks chiming in with their pessimistic putdowns of people expressing hope.
No one has called Jack Smith a hero in acknowledging he's showing up to do his job while most of America celebrates the Thanksgiving holiday. You own that projection.

(8,103 posts)I don't think misleading the 11th Circuit is in very good form! Bullshitting those guys could lead to headaches (sanctions for dessert?) How odd that the Special Counsel directed this in a letter to the 11th Circuit...I suppose that if a letter accomplishes your goal, then why not. The goal is to dismiss Special Master Dearie by overturning Judge Cannon's erroneous ruling. (Willing to bet that Dearie is praying to be relieved of those odiferous duties.)
Are they getting ready to rule? This is interesting to say the least. Monday?? What date is this projected for?
