Musk went after Alexander Vindman today, calling him a "puppeteer" - UPDATE

YOU'LL FIND THE UPDATE AT THE END OF THIS OP.

Jerusalem Post article:

https://www.jpost.com/diaspora/antisemitism/article-723510

Elon Musk calls Jewish US Army officer Alexander Vindman ‘puppet & puppeteer’

Elon Musk on Monday called Jewish American retired US Army officer Lt.-Col. Alexander Vindman both a "puppet & puppeteer" in response to Vindman sharing a copypasta (copied and pasted text shared on the Internet) suggesting that Musk is "erratic" and too powerful now that he owns Twitter.

"Vindman is both puppet & puppeteer. Question is who pulls his strings … ?" Musk tweeted.

Musk's tweet was in response to a tweet by Tablet magazine Chief Technology Officer Noah Blum mocking the copypasta, which read "Kinda weird that @elonmusk gets to decide how like a half-billion people communicate. Way too much power for one erratic individual to wield, don't you think?"

Blum's tweet read: "BLEEP BLOOP KINDA WEIRD THAT @ELONMUSK GETS TO DECIDE HOW LIKE A HALF-BILLION PEOPLE COMMUNICATE BLEEP. WAY TOO MUCH POWER FOR ONE ERRATIC INDIVIDUAL TO WEILD, DON'T YOU THINK BLOOP?", implying that users who share the aforementioned copypasta are bots, or programmed to think a certain way.

-snip-

The Post article goes on to say that Musk "deliberately or not" evoked an old antisemitic trope.

And Vindman got a particularly vicious antisemitic email not long after Musk posted that.

A lot of people on Twitter are speaking up in Vindman's defense, condemning Musk for this, but so far Musk hasn't apologized.

Some of the relevant tweets below.

___________________UPDATE__________________________

In the wee hours this morning, Musk tweeted a meme using the Pepe the Frog image so beloved of the alt right, and referring to psyops. I think he meant this as another jab at Alexander Vindman, and a quick search showed that at least some of Musk's fans on Twitter took it the same way. This mention of psyops jibes with his attack on Vindman as a "puppeteer" - and his RWNJ followers will love the Pepe meme. (One of the replies, from a Twitter user who isn't a fanboi, said Musk was turning Twitter into 4chan.)

I'm personally boycotting any post about that person and TFG on DU from now on.

The vile crap they're spreading and allowing others to spread is beyond the pale of human decency.

I'm sure some will say I'm sticking my head in the sand, but I really don't care. I'm sure I'll find out about their worst offenses by watching MSNBC anyway, but it seems every other post in DU is about one or the other.

At my age I don't need the constant negativity anymore.

A PBS for the Web in the form of a national utility that provides communication, news, information and entertainment. Universal in membership, interests and coverage, powerful in terms of content, reach and freedom of speech. Data serves the People. Ad revenues help fund the infrastructure and development.

To level the field, all users would be registered. They wouldn’t have to be identified, but would be held responsible for what they say — especially about other people. And if one isn’t willing to sign their name to an observation, they would still be accountable if making a threat or libel.

If corporations want a platform, great! They can figure out how to attract users. And even if he’s taxed at what levels he deserves, Elon will still be able to afford footing the bill. He’ll be using his $44 billion loss on Twitter as a write-off.

too much influence for it to be wise to ignore him. A lot of people wanted to dismiss Trump as just a disgusting clown, too, before he became president. And I've read that the same was true in Germany during Hitler's rise, with many Germans disgusted by Hitler wanting to ignore him, to dismiss him as a clown.

racist, anti-semitic, bigotry of the Trumpist Party. At the breakout of WWII, there many Americans (and Brits) who were Nazi sympathizers on the anti-semitic, anti-immigrant bandwagon. Henry Ford and Charles Lindbergh were two prominent figures among them. American education has been sadly lacking in regard to the truth about the racist, xenophobic, anti-semitic streak in America.
