Fox Contributor - Joe Biden still purging military heroes refusing vaccine

"You have Joe Biden, still, purging military heroes who don't want to get a vaccine," said Booth (Fox News Disinformation Bimbo)

It's a mischaracterization of the idea that Biden is purging the anti-vaccine people. The reality is that because soldiers are sent all over the world, they're required to have all vaccines from Malaria to Hep A and B, the flu vaccine each year, as well as specific immunization for the country to which they're being deployed, all of which are listed here.

Of course, I served in the days before FOX News started trying to tell everyone what to think.

When I was getting ready for deployment to the Gulf in 1991, I was told to get a typhoid shot. I told them I had already had it in Basic Training. They said: "Well, you're getting it again." I got it again. Sore arm and everything.

I never thought of saying no to them and that included a cholera shot for the year I served a remote tour.

Looking back, I am thankful to be vaccinated against many different diseases and I will be getting another COVID booster this coming month. Instead of doubting science, I trust the knowledge of those who know much more about it than I do.

and I was really annoyed. Many years later I heard about issues with the Swine Flu Vaccine, esp. that many young, healthy soldiers were wiped out and laid up after receiving it at bases. Later I also met a middle aged man who had Guillaume Barre syndrome, possibly related to the SFV.

Oh well, all in the effort to prevent infection and stay healthy. A strong reaction to a vaccine may be an indication that your body is responding and active so I've read.

hesitant because of a slight reaction to previous flu shots in the 2000s and 1990s (after the 1970s Swine Flu shot) .

I was with my mom for the later shots. She was in her late 60s and did fine, but after leaving the RX I felt weak and spaced for an hour or two. Wimp! I wondered about it, am over it but will mention to the pharmacist next week when I get the new flu shot.

I just read online that adverse/allergic reactions to vaccines include breathing/heart problems, fever, swelling, etc. which I never had.

(Years ago a corneal specialist said to stop using my contact lens solution because the * thimerosol preservative in it was causing irritation in my eyes, after years with no problem. The body can change I guess.Thimerosol is derived from mercury I think and may be the chemical your friend is allergic to, like other people. Thimerosol and the many vaccines given to children were debated years back but I didn't follow it closely).
https://www.cdc.gov/vaccinesafety/concerns/thimerosal/index.html

I think the weird response I had to vaxes was related to my body building up strong immunity, at least I hope so. Anyway, it's all's good, thanks for replying & stay well!

The Guillaume Barre syndrome link to influenza and to influenza vaccines is not completely clear. Here is a link to a review article by Vellozzi et al. 2014. Guillain-Barré Syndrome, Influenza, and Influenza Vaccination: The Epidemiologic Evidence. Clinical Infectious Diseases, Volume 58, Issue 8, 15 April 2014, Pages 1149–1155, https://doi.org/10.1093/cid/ciu005

(alternative link: https://academic.oup.com/cid/article/58/8/1149/355966#5094598)

Based on my quick read, while there is a small, but not consistent link between flu vaccines and GBS, there is also a link (a bit more significant) between GBS and an influenza infection. This link appears to vary depending upon the particular flu season and, therefore, the influenza strain.

My vac book is almost as thick as an old NYC phone book.

About that readiness, fun fact via The Oxford Companion to American Military History

Revolutionary War: Casualty rate due to disease, 90% of the total number
Civil War: 71.4% per 1K
WWI: 16.5% per 1K
WWII: .6% per 1K

That significant drop in WWI in great part was because to a man the US Army was vaxx'd for typhoid, once called "the soldier's disease".

As far as this ole sarge is concerned, every one of those idiots should have had their 214 the same day. "You didn't read the contract, did you bunkie. With very little wiggle room, it's Orwellian. 'What isn't forbidden is mandatory'."

Let them die. The best scientists in the world using some of the best technology and genetic information (thank bill Clinton.... human genome project) have found vaccines that will keep them alive and out of the hospital but they just know more about everything so fuck 'em.

There refusal to get vaccinated has allowed the C-19 virus to keep growing, mutating, and the disease to spread.
