It will not be sent because of Liz Cheney. She wants a criminal referral sent because she understands, "but for" the actions of Donald Trump, none of the crimes would have happened. He was the catalyst and the cause of all the illegal activities that they investigated.
Many will say that it doesn't matter, the DOJ will do what they want to do anyway. That may well be true, but to have the imprimatur of the US Congress behind your decision is a strong positive. And it would be the will of the majority of the US Congress.
It is time for the Congress and the DOJ to do what they have been hired and elected to do. The lies must cease. The time for game-playing and delaying justice is over. There must be accountability.

Lots and lots going on. And none of it is good for Trump.

(12,423 posts)She's no different than Trump and if it were Jeb! losing the 2020 election and rioting at the Capitol, LIz would have been swinging a flag pole.
She's MTG with a Trump sized chip on her shoulder

(44,096 posts)Your bizarre conspiracy theory has absolutely no factual basis.
Repeat it as much as you want, it still isn't true.
Both Republicans on the committee have acted with integrity and worked hard along side the Democrats. No amount of loud rantingabout a super-top-secret plot by Liz Cheney is going to change the facts.

SCHIFF: They are. I dont think the back-and-forth is particularly helpful the committee, and I dont want to engage in it.
Were going to get to consensus on the report. Were very close to that now. Were close to the putting down the pen and going to print. And I think the report is going to set out in a, I hope, very comprehensive way what took place, what led to that attack and all the circumstances around that.
Were also going to be releasing the evidence, which may be the most important thing, the voluminous transcripts, the documents and e- mails. We want to make sure that thats put before the American people. We certainly dont want the Jim Jordans of the world to cherry-pick anything not disclosed and make a false or misleading narrative out of it.
So, the country is going to have the evidence. Theyre going to have our report. And Im enormously proud of what we have done and know I will be proud of the final result.
BASH: Well, I was going to ask you about that.
Jim Jordan has already said that he is going to he will be the chairman of the Judiciary Committee. He is likely. He is going to go through the evidence you left out. Youre saying that there wont be evidence that will not be made public.
SCHIFF: The evidence will all be made public.
Now, we will have to make sure that we scrub that evidence for personally identifiable information, that the evidence that we provide protects peoples security, it doesnt put them at risk. So there are things that were going to have to do along those lines.
But, yes, we want to put the evidence before the American people, which supports the hearings that we have done, as well as the report that we will put out, and will be a comprehensive picture.

(12,423 posts)Your post has literally NOTHING to do with my post.
The Committee has ABSOLUTELY done wonderful work... it'll be considered the accurate and official history of the day when it's published.
ALL I SAID... is that Cheney used her position on the Committee to rail against Trump, not because of J6, but because of Trump destroying her and her Daddies neo-con political movement. Did she say the right things to appear in line with the DEM members of the Committee? Sure.
And I'll debate that with anyone.

(12,423 posts)And that's her condemnation of J6 and Trump.
But WHY did she do that?
Love of country or because Trump came along and DESTROYED 40 years of hard work started by the Bush Crime family, Daddy Cheney, Bill Kristol and their ilk?
Don't forget, neoconservatism was the MAGA of the 1990's and 2000's
Tea Party... "liberate" Iraq... fucking warmongers never met a war they didn't like.
Shrub commits the ultimate war crime, the greatest since Pol Pot... Daddy Cheney was probably already planning the inauguration for Liz...
Then along comes Trump and destroys the movement in a year.
Tell me WHY Liz is so angry at Trump when they're 99.99% political clones.
Hmmm?

(15,560 posts)if you are determined to make people understand that. We can't agree on hardly anything as a nation or as a party. I do believe though, we have to continue pointing out how the R's have handled things. Really, we should be busy trying to take down the memory of St. Ronald of Reagan, who really set middle class people WAY back with all the crap he pulled.

(12,423 posts)Like Clinton... then Shrub the War Criminal throws us back 30 years and then Obama comes along and rights the ship... then again we're thrown back 30 years by Trump.
It's beyond frustrating.

(8,326 posts)Right now she would be lining up votes and would be busy rolling McCarthy and would be the first Female Republican Speaker. It would have been easy for her to go along. What she did by cutting her own throat was a complete act of political courage. I may agree with her on next to nothing politically, but hers was an act of political courage.
