There is a war going on between the two extremes in this country. Both are sure the other side is wrong.
In my opinion, the vast population is closer to the middle and would be the majority over either extreme.
And, in an election, the candidate from the vast middle majority would likely win the election.
Just my opinion.

I think the big question is "Why?".

(111,085 posts)I think we are the extreme of the Democratic Party, relatively speaking. But, as Barry Goldwater once was quoted, I would remind you that extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice! And let me remind you also that moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue!.
We are "extreme" but we are fighting the other extreme in the defense of liberty and democracy. Just the mere word "extreme" should not denote instant negativism in this instance, in my opinion.

(1,137 posts)We could say anyone could win. The why of the matter is their extreme does exist (see J6). The reason why our extreme exists is Faux News and all the right wing propaganda arms that go with it.
You and I might be able to have a civil conversation, because we share a truth called reality. The problem is the other side shares lies and something called fantasy.

Their media defines us by our extreme which prompts a Pavlovian response in them.
In truth, we are quite the moderate party. Anyone paying attention would know that.
Take away the disinformation, we represent that vast middle majority to a T.

Equating left and right ignores how much power and influence right-wing extremism has gained.

There are no two extremes. There is no war between two extremes.
There is ONE extreme. And they are a danger to us all. And yes, I AM sure racism, sexism, insurrection and massive corruption are wrong.
