We've all heard about Trump's Thanksgiving dinner guests, but until last night, when Rachel played what felt like a lengthy set of clips of what Fuentes has said I didn't realize that I could still be shocked, and that the "ultra far right" was as crazy and vicious as he was. We should all understand the content of what he is espousing. It can't be conveyed second hand.

I wish I knew how to get URLs to clips of TV shows. If anyone can point us to that bit from last night's show, please do.

Once I discovered him back during the Bush/Cheney admin, he became must-watch news for me. On the Comedy Channel, of all places.

I hoped like anything that the “real news” would pick up on it, and some finally did — after years. Some of the best practitioners are people like Nicolle Wallace and Rachel Maddow.

14. I stopped being shocked by people like this a few years ago when Milo Yiannopolous was invited

to speak at CPAC. He is a truly depraved individual, just as Fuentes is. In case you don’t recall, Yiannopolous gained fame for his white supremacy but also for claiming that sex between adult men and minors was perfectly healthy and should be legal. He has faded away more recently, though he’s probably still active in radical right-wing circles. He also claimed that statutory rape was impossible so long as a minor had “mature” sex organs.

Unfortunately, too many people in this country regard those like Fuentes as fringe people whose ideas will never be acted on—just as they dismissed fringe ideas that the SC would overturn Roe v. Wade. If enough people choose to buy their heads in the sand, those ideas can and will be acted on. Hitler didn’t achieve power just from people who actively supported him. A lot of Germans just did not see—or chose not to see—the threat until it was too late.

Btw, for those who don't know it, there is no Jewish race -- race is a hate meme used to jet-fuel its virulence. Jewish religion spread across the continents, and among the races, of Europe, Asia and Africa thousands of years ago, just as the Christian and Muslim religions did when they developed later.

We were rather disappointed to discover that my Jewish husband's genetically apparently entirely European, a bit of a damper on romantic imaginings of forebears traveling the world's trade routes long before Marco Polo set out for China.
