Not surprising that the Wingnut world view has its alternate dictionary definitions. I don't know about RIPA (thanks, Regis), but Meegyn's version of "consolation" wouldn't have had that effect on me back then and not now either.

Podcaster Megyn Kelly revealed Monday that back in 2016 she consoled a very upset Kelly Ripa over Donald Trump winning the presidency. ....
So it was moments after, to me, moments after we had just announced that Donald Trump was president. And I went on that show. And she was very, very upset prior to air that he had won. You know, her husband is a Latino, she explained. ....
And he had said very controversial things and she was feeling under threat and her children and so on. So we talked a bit backstage about it, and then I went out onto the stage and said exactly to the public what I had said to her, Kelly said.
Which is Theres a whole faction of Americans who feels heard now for the first time in years after having been ignored, really ignored. And thats a good thing. Thats a good thing for America. That bodes well for the outcome of America long term, no matter how you feel about it, short term,' she recalled.

Unless he himself says "I'm not Latino", I think it's reasonable to call him that.

(11,636 posts)I wonder if she would still say that Trump's election boded well for "the outcome of America long term." If so then she's more of a wing nut than anyone thought.

(70,725 posts)Back in her Faux Propaganda Network days, she was rumored to be Brit HUME's "protege" (cough, cough). Her spewings have always been wingnut under the cover of being a lawyer and a "journalist." She never complained about Roger AISLES's sexual harassment until she left and other women came forward, when she chipped in a couple of stories of his ogling her, not much of an outcry from her. In the same vein, it's doubtful she has any concrete condemnation of Drumpf for anything.
As for the focus, it's about her. Funny how any mention of Mexican/Latino/Hispanic brings forth lectures and "explainings" of Hispanic culture . In a parallel topic of the Drumpf/Kanye/FUENTES mutual support visit Drumpf supporters attempted to divert the topic, and Don LEMON spelled out the FOCUS (below). Similarly, here in this thread the focus is on Megyn KELLY and her distorted "consoling."

.... Lemon spoke to Len Khodorkovsky on Monday morning over the fallout from Trump having dinner last week with Kanye West and prominent white nationalist Nick Fuentes. Khodorkovsky, a former Deputy Assistant Secretary of State in the Trump administration who is Jewish, began the conversation by remarking about his descendence from Holocaust survivors to say, I can tell an anti-semite when I hear one. And I tell you with confidence that President Trump is not an anti-semite. ....
... As Khodorkovsky wished that Trump hadnt met with West or Fuentes, he then tried to deflect from criticism of the former president by going after alleged anti-semitism from progressive members of Congress.
Theyre not the president of the United States. Hes the former president of the United States, Lemon countered. This is not whataboutism. He met with an anti-semite. So can we stick to the former president and not do whataboutism? We can talk about those other people when there are issues, but there arent issues right now. ....
The clash continued as Lemon maintained the focus on Trump while Khodorkovsky kept trying to deflect to anti-semitism from other people. Khodorkovsky grew increasingly agitated as Lemon called out his whataboutism and his refusal to break off from the current news about an ex-president hosting anti-semites at his house. ....
