This is not a long time DUer (MissMillie) that has asked for $ before that I know of. $4,000 is a large amount for an unexpected Vet bill. The link provides a detailed bill of the charges.
I must have missed a post about this. Marta and I kicked in $25 + a tip. We have three dogs of our own and love animals. One of the best dogs we ever had was a rat terrier named Luka.
IF you can't afford a donation at this time of year, a K&R would do wonders.

(18,613 posts)Just a reminder to all...
Pet Insurance works.
Our last dog got cancer and we paid over 10k in bills.
So with this current dog we got Pet Insurance as a puppy and he ended up needing 3 surgeries at age 1... the insurance covered almost 15k and we paid less than 2k out of pocket.
Pet health insurance is like $30-90 a month depending on breed/age etc.

(3,477 posts)Then again, I'm in Canada so perhaps that's true here but not true elsewhere. Alas, at this juncture I don't think it'll matter for our chocolate lab. He's got some allergies and skin issues related to those, and was diagnosed with epilepsy not long ago. Thus far (knock on wood) his seizures have been very rare and mild and have a clear environmental trigger. That being the case, we can manage his environment and keep them from happening, at least for now. Regardless, any insurance for him would probably be astronomical with those preexisting conditions.
I'm glad things worked out better for your current pupper, and my condolences on the loss of your previous doggo. It's heart-wrenching to lose them and it never gets easier.

Works best to get insurance when you pick up the puppy!

(55,137 posts)during g the last few years of her life. But I got it for my 2nd puppy and she used it at the beginning of her life, not the end. I guess it matters depending on individual cases, same as all insurance policies (good and bad, varies).

(26,848 posts)straight up cover 90% (it drops to 80 for older pets) without any problems/arguments. Shit, they treated our cat better than bullshit ass United Healthcare treats humans.
I wish so much that I could be on the donating side instead of the asking side, but has not happened yet. Such a sweet dog. I hope she gets her emergency surgery and it goes well.

(55,137 posts)Poor baby. Those collars are no fun. I took mine off of my pup and she was so glad she didn't bite or scratch. She was very smart and knew the rules.
On the other hand, when I watched an old episode of Frasier they put one of those on Eddie and when they sat him on top of the TV their reception was much better.....
