From chicken wings to used cars, inflation begins to ease its grip

https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/markets/from-chicken-wings-to-used-cars-inflation-begins-to-ease-its-grip/ar-AA14SOZb

"The price of gasoline is dropping like a rock. Chicken wings are suddenly a bargain. And retailers drowning in excess inventory are looking to make a deal.

After more than a year of high inflation, many consumers are finally starting to catch a break. Even apartment rents and car prices, two items that hammered millions of household budgets this year, are no longer spiraling out of control."

I read more than a month ago that big retailers need to empty inventory.

for at least 30% less than it was a year ago.. (It sure helped with we cut the cable. got PBS Passport and all kinds of other free tv on it).. so yeah.. there are bargains to be had.. and I think you are right.. they overstocked and what does not sell should go very cheap

far, used car prices have come down 17% since Spring of this year, so the trend is continuing. New car prices are supposedly to follow price-drop wise, but I haven't seen this yet too much, other than perhaps more incentives are popping up and some of them have increased by $500 to $2500, the Silverado. Most of the incentives seem to focus on pickup trucks which I'm not interested in, I'm looking for a small car so I can park in my small garage.

Anyone has any suggestions or thoughts, I'm 'all ears'!

One point, Gee, it has been so long since I've looked at prices of used and new cars and I was blown away by how much pricing had increased over the years.

I'm liking the late model used Golfs (can't get new ones in NA except the hotted-up GTI and R models). I have an 02 Golf now with almost 500K Kms. It has been a great car, still runs well, but starting to rust and show its age.

Also looking a the Bolt EV - they are especially attractive in the US what with the recent price reduction for 2023s.

My backyard hens haven’t been out of their pen for months. Usually I’ll let them wander around the backyard.

They have a 12’x25’ covered pen and a 6’x6’ hen house so they have plenty of indoor and enclosed/protected outdoor space.

And wild birds can’t get near them, so they’re fine. It’s been close to me, but not too close. I would hate to put my hens down- most I’ve raised from day old chicks.
