Republican Trump foes ask GOP leadership if they still support the Constitution amid his aim to 'terminate' it

Donald Trump is still experiencing fallout after his bizarre Saturday night rant about eliminating the Constitution, so he can have the presidency handed to him.

Trump wrote on his fake Twitter app Truth Social that he wanted to "terminate the Constitution," because even after two years, he's still suffering from his profound loss in the 2020 election, while the rest of the country has moved on.

Ironically, GOP House leader Kevin McCarthy proclaimed that he would read the Constitution on the first day of Congress, but it comes after Trump proclaimed terminating the Constitution. It was something that Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) asked the GOP leaders about.

has availed himself numerous times of the ability to put up lawsuits, etc., and constantly challenge them in the courts by filing appeals.

If we ever did do away w/ the Constitution, then I say throw his ass (tRUMP) into jail immediately w/o a trial, being that he's so guilty that we don't need to waste time on the process in doing so.

The real question is, are we prepared and willing to defend the Constitution from all enemies, foreign and domestic?

I mean no Constitution means no elections. No Congress. No Courts. No laws. No enforcement. Nothing as we know it. Anarchy, or dictatorship, or rule by force alone. Recall what the Reformation did? 30 Years' War.

11. GOP lawmakers largely silent after Trump suggests "termination" of Constitution

Republican lawmakers do not care about our democratic form of government or the US Constitution. These GOP lawmakers are too scared of TFG to do the right thing

Donald Trump’s suggestion this weekend that the U.S. Constitution should be terminated in response to his baseless claims that the 2020 election was stolen drew a largely muted response from Republicans, the latest sign that many GOP officials remain reluctant to take on the former president even as he challenges the country’s founding precepts......

But only a handful of Republican lawmakers have joined the White House and Democrats in condemning Trump’s assertions. Representatives for House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) did not respond on Sunday to requests for comment.

Last month, McCarthy announced that Republicans would read every word of the Constitution out loud on the floor of the House when the GOP takes control of the chamber in January.

Some GOP lawmakers who were asked on Sunday political shows about Trump’s latest missive said they disagreed with the former president. However, most still hesitated to say that they would oppose Trump if he becomes the GOP’s 2024 presidential nominee......

Although Tribe acknowledged that Trump has said many outrageous things that should not always command attention, he does not believe this latest statement should be brushed off, particularly after Trump’s baseless claims about the 2020 election led to a pro-Trump mob storming the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, in an attempt to stop the certification of Joe Biden’s electoral win.

It’s a distinctive statement. It sort of says the quiet part out loud — that he has no reverence for the country, for anything other than himself,” Tribe said. “This is like saying, ‘You want to see an insurrection? I’ll show you an insurrection. I’ll just tear the whole thing up.’ ”

Reminds me of what some of my Texan friends used to tell me about armadillos: If they can't eat it or screw it, then they'll poop on it.

Well, that's the cleaned-up version. I try to keep my posts family-friendly, language wise.

But the idea holds true. If that...thing...can't benefit from something, he has no use for it. Worse, if it thwarts him in any way, then he'll do everything he can to destroy it.

That's how malignant narcissists always operate.

Always.
