(14,459 posts)And more than a few ulcers he wasn't expecting. Todd Akin comes to mind, as well as Mitt being outed as a non-taxpayer as part of the 1%...you know, the people who claim to create all of the jobs and pay 70% of the taxes in the treasury?
Mitt was supposed to lose, but in a way that suggested that the Republicans should be given the WH in 2016 when jeb or one of the other dynasty members get tapped. Instead we had serious discussions about rape culture, tax evasion, racism, and how the little people don't exist to the well off.
Not at ALL the framing Rove was looking for, I would guess.

(14,459 posts)But the Republican brains of the operation? Hell no. I called this a year ago as Bob Dole election. If Mitt didn't know he was being stooged he has no one to blame but himself.
The party plotters have had their work cut out for them trying to resurrect the ghosts of trickle down, zero taxes/regulation and the other assorted lunacies they peddle. What they wanted to do was clear- luckily people like Todd Akin and even Romney himself did a lot of damage to that effort.
The fact that they succeeded at all though is a travesty.
