Let me Make this Pellucidly Clear

Joe Biden should be Time Magazine’s Person of the Year for the record-breaking election results.
Give the man his due- that is all.

I'd say for his record accomplishments in two years but especially for his leadership in uniting the world to protect democracy in Ukraine.

I would also be very pleased if it was President Zelenskyy. His leadership in defending democracy in the face of Russian brutality is phenomenal.

And it will be well-earned.

Like some others have pointed out, Person of the Year is not always an honor for good behavior. It just means they've been the most newsworthy person of the year, for reasons good or bad.

President Biden--along with Vice President Harris--won in 2020 after their election, and that makes sense. You know I love him, but I don't know if losing the House by a far slimmer margin than expected or potentially expanding the Senate majority by a single seat is as momentous as one might think for POY honors.

Geopolitically, the Russia-Ukraine War has been the biggest story to emerge out of this year. (We still have other stories, like COVID, economy, climate change, but those are more year to year type of stories). Zelensky's resolve--and how it travels down to the Ukrainian people in general--has been one of the biggest narratives of that story.

I just hope it's not a cop-out like some large, unnamed group or subset of people. I hate when they do that. I think the worst was when they named "You" the Person of the Year.

"You" as in all of us, in the digital age. It was stupid.
