(9,958 posts)organization that Trump didnt authorize. He is known as a micromanager. Now investigators need to look into the tax fraud by the Trump spawn. I remember a NYT report that Ivanka received a salary but then also received several hundred thousand in consulting fees. I dont remember whether the consulting fees were reported as income, but salaried personnel do not get paid consulting fees.

(13,565 posts)....and, earlier as a tax attorney, he advised Trump to never release his taxes. Voila, he gets appointed Commissioner!
And then Rettig refused the lawful request from Congress for release of Trump's date. The law says the Commissioner SHALL release the data to Congress on request.

(16,920 posts)one with plenty of great experience and plenty of background on other tRump cases. That's great - let's hope he's a 'KILLER!'
BUT, what about the 2 attorneys who HAD been handling the case for C. Vance before Vance retired? When he took office Bragg told those guys that he was NOT going to pursue the tRump case. They made a 'respectful' public stink about NOT going after tRump, but did NOT go nutso against Bragg or the Manhattan Office.
Whey were THEY not brought back?
Were they asked and declined?
Might be a big NOTHING - but I'd sure like some answers about it all.
In the meantime - LOVE THE VERDICT - the "HOUSE OF tRUMP CARDS" is starting to crumble!!!!!!

(7,271 posts)I remember Vance wasn't exactly 'On the Case' in terms moving the investigation along in preparation for trial.
Vance struck me as foot dragging at a painfully slow pace., in fact there were times when it was reported nothing was going to proceed.
But then with political events being what they were, seemed to have been like a fire getting lit under his ass. except again, signs of foot dragging right through the period leading up to his retirement, he hired those well known, experienced prosecutors, then Braggs comes i and douses cold water on all that work. Like it was all worked out behind closed doors.. leaving the public, prosecutors and AG twisting the wind.
I'm sure I have all of this wrong, just grist for a film script that's been recycled hundred million times.
I recognize that tune! Just a few of the same words but re-arranged to fit the given chorus line.
I find this closing argument fascinating, obviously transmitting it to the public, praying that a sort of baton was being passed to whoeer outhere to whoever might have legal standing and the fortitude to carry on and finishing it.

(16,920 posts)just still wanting to believe that there really is a 'good, happy' ending, just like the film script.....
Come on, aren't we due for ONE 'good, happy' ending after the past 6-7-8 years of 'Nightmare on Pennsylvania Avenue?'

(7,271 posts)Let me know when that happens, then we'll have something to celebrate?
Surely drink a toast for this one, it's a victory none the less. a small one, but sure I'll drink that for what it's worth.
cheers!

(56,828 posts)so, no matter how egregious the crimes, Trump would be allowed to keep his "primary" residence.
NY does not have a similar law. I don't think NJ does, either.

(16,291 posts)And whoever the eventual owner is changes the name.
Can you imagine how much he would HATE that? Plastering his name on things is incredibly important to him. Having his name removed from one of his precious buildings would make his head explode!
And after that, somebody please do the one in Chicago. SO sick of seeing his name emblazoned on that thing. (Although it did make a handy focal point for protests when he was in office. )
Hey, if the Sears Tower could become the Willis Tower, anything is possible!

(56,828 posts)I remember the Homestead law because there was a big scandal in my neck of the woods in the late 80s (Colonial Realty & Benjamin Sisti) and Benjamin Sisti had his wife purchase a $30 million home in Florida for that very reason.
And, one of the people he scammed back in the day was Donald Trump. The home Sisti built in the Hartford, CT area was later purchased by Mike Tyson and then 50-Cent.
https://www.ctmq.org/the-sisti-mansion/
The wife ended up getting convicted of fraud for helping him hide his assets

Not sure what happened to the home in Florida, though
