(2,952 posts)At least it wasn't "Born in the USA"
Though I'm not too sure they'd be super pleased if they paid close attention to the message of "Glory Days" either.

Actually, since the 1980s, I have never understood how anyone who would vote Republican,
could have understood and/or approved of rock 'n roll ???
Sorry, I had that backwards---
I never understood how any rock 'n roller could EVER vote republican
(especially anyone who ever smoked mary-J)....
Bruce, Tom Petty, Jackson Browne and Bob Seger
are my absolute rock 'n roll heroes.....
the loss of Tom Petty was particularly shocking and depressing....

(14,578 posts)John Mellencamp sent a letter that said "Why are you playing songs that have a very populist pro-labor message written by a guy who would find no argument if you characterized him as left of center?"
I suppose one could confuse "Our Country" talking about 'Murica.
But you gotta be fucking high if you listen to "Pink Houses" and don't agree with John Mellencamp himself who characterized it as an Anti-American song. One could respectfully differ with Mr. Mellencamp and say it's a song about the Real America.
