. . . . . will impeach Biden if Kev become Speaker.
He also postulated that Tom Cole of Oklahoma could get Dem votes and be a consensus Speaker.

THEY GOT NOTHING.
Beautiful Disaster
(667 posts)And that would be a bigger disaster for the GOP than any other alterative. There's enough moderate winners in New York who won't vote to impeach Biden unless there's an absolute case and McCarthy bringing up an impeachment vote that ends with it being voted down would be a huge embarrassment.

(25,355 posts)I am not aware of any.
NY Republicans, yes. But moderates???
Beautiful Disaster
(667 posts)They're the reason the House isn't Democratic going forward.
They won't have the luxury of being rabid conservatives in districts that lean-center or Biden.
wnylib
(25,355 posts)NY Republicans is that they know that they need to sound "centrist" to win, but what they say on campaigns and what they do in office are often not the same.

(23,490 posts)Which is fine by me. I guess the lesson they're taking away from the mid-term red trickle is that voters want Republicans to be EVEN MORE extreme, insane, and divisive.
Please proceed...

Besides.. what did Pres Biden do? That is insane. They're down the Rabbit Hole having tea with the Mad Hatter.
Pres Biden invited Kev & his Mom to his First State Dinner and Kev wants to Impeach him because mtg?
wnylib
(25,355 posts)That's what they will try to base it on. Creating implications that Biden has had crooked dealings with foreign governments. Remember, they accuse others of what they are doing.

(15,190 posts)They will also try to impeach over the Afghanistan withdrawal.

(25,355 posts)Dems will make them regret it. The media did an extremely poor job of covering how Trump set up a no win situation by selling out the Afghan government to the Taliban in an agreement to withdraw US troops. Then Trump's State Department obstructed attempts to vet people for evacuation.
Biden managed to get an extension of time for the withdrawal and then rushed to vet people - US citizens and Afghan people who were US loyalists - in order to get them out in time. Biden's choices after Trump's sellout to the Taliban were to leave without our citizens and loyal Afghans or go back to square one and fight the Taliban war all over again.
Biden refused to reignite the war and still managed to evacuate thousands of people.
Most Americans do not know this background, thanks to corporate media who backed Republicans on this. But if the House brings up this crap again, the full story will come out very publicly.

(3,905 posts)it's a political loser for republicans. Democrats did not set out to impeach trump; they only did so when his actions warranted it. If repubs want to drive this clown car, it is going to be exposed in no uncertain terms as spitting into the win. Voters will take notice.

Cole supported President Donald Trump's 2017 executive order to impose a temporary ban on entry to the U.S. to citizens of seven Muslim-majority countries.[16]
In January 2021, Cole voted against the certification of the Electoral College results in the 2020 presidential election.[17] He subsequently voluntarily gave up an honorary degree from Grinnell College.[18] In May 2021, Cole voted against the creation of a bipartisan commission to investigate the January 6 insurrection.[19]
In 2021, Cole joined a majority of Republican representatives in signing onto an amicus brief to overturn Roe v. Wade.[20] Following the Supreme Court's decision to overrule Roe in June 2022, Cole celebrated the outcome, saying in part "not only is this a monumental win for states rights, but also the rights of unborn children."[21]"

(46,056 posts)Why would they? He's a Trumper. He voted against the certification of the Electoral College results and he voted against the creation of a commission to investigate the January 6 insurrection. He also signed onto an amicus brief urging the SCOTUS to overturn Roe.
On what planet would he be a "consensus" speaker?

(40,728 posts)How does McCarthy - or any of the Repukes - justify impeaching Biden?
They've got NOTHING. They're just pissing in the wind.

Takket
(23,552 posts)first off they really don't have the votes in the House. A few rethugs will break loose from that effort and stop it.
there is more mileage for their "meat feeding to the base" efforts of just constantly TALKING about it, rather than doing it. if they actually do it Schumer should ABSOLUTELY go through with the trial so when they present NOTHING, they will be torched.
