To Mr. Paul Krekorian, 26th President of the LA City Council:
Yesterday Friday December 9, 2022, I covered the LA City Council meeting online working in conjunction with other journalists. My day began by thanking Zach Gatto of Knock LA (@AllBassAllDay) for his fast, efficient Twitter updates as usual of Council meetings. The other Zach is also a fellow Trojan, and an excellent tubist, having played in the USC Marching Band. We knew that it was going to be a big day for LA.
Our mood was strangely celebratory, in anticipation of what was anticipated to be a contentious, increasingly significant, and celebratory final Council meeting for members including Paul Koretz, Mitch O’Farrell, Joe Buscaino, Mike Bonin, and last but not least, the handily defeated Gil Cedillo. There were also rumors that disgraced politician Kevin de León would appear for the first time since October 11, 2022 despite President Biden’s strong, unequivocal encouragement to resign immediately delivered by Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre saying: “He believes that they all should resign.”
