Cher appears to announce death of her beloved mum prompting outpouring of tributes
Singing legend Cher appeared to confirmed the death of her mother, Georgia Holt, as she shared a simple tweet which read: "Mom is gone"
Cher appears to have confirmed the death of her mother on Twitter - leading to an outpouring of tributes from fans.
The singer, 76 - who is usually an avid poster on the social media site - returned after a two day break to seemingly announce the death of her beloved mum Georgia Holt.
In a simple tweet, Cher posted 'Mom is gone' followed by a frowning emoji.
In September, the star had revealed that Holt was battling a number of health issues.
She told fans at the time: "Sorry Ive Been MIA. Moms Been Sick Off & On. She Just Got Out Of Hosp. She Had Pneumonia. Shes Getting Better."

(90,017 posts)5. She had a boutique in L.A. near where I grew up.
It was called Grannys Cabbage Patch. At the front of the shop, a gorgeous and elaborate baby crib suspended from two equally gorgeous and elaborate supports was on display. Id never seen any such thing like it before, or since. She explained that it was Chastitys crib.
Very charming woman and she was so proud of her daughter.
Rest in peace, dear lady.
