Is Dominion's $1.6bn defamation lawsuit a death blow for Murdoch and Fox News?

The Guardian

Rupert Murdoch rarely has to answer for the alternative realities presented by his hugely profitable US cable network, Fox News.

Its conspiratorial claims of a parade of cover ups from the 2012 Benghazi attack to the climate crisis and Covid-19 have been lapped up by Fox viewers and scorned by much of the rest of America, and then the world moved on. But on Tuesday, the 91-year-old billionaire media mogul will be obliged to answer difficult questions under oath about the inner workings of Fox.

Dominion Voting Systems is suing the cable news station and its Murdoch-owned parent company, Fox Corp, for $1.6bn (£1.3bn) over repeated claims that it rigged its voting machines as part of a conspiracy to steal the 2020 presidential election from Donald Trump.

The suit shines a spotlight on Fox News’ part in promoting Trump’s “stop the steal” campaign and its hand in driving the January 6 insurrection at the Capitol. But legal experts say that Dominion, which supplied voting machines to 28 states, appears to be building a wider case that Fox News has a long history of misinformation and steamrolling facts that do not fit its editorial line.

1. I believe fox news is worth 16 to 22 billion. I don't think 1.6 billion will destroy fox news, just

like Musk's 44 billion investment in twitter will sink musk, since musk's networth is around 220 billion

Hopefully, what it will succeed in doing is destroying their reputation among most, but even that would be hard to visualize since their seems to be so many unhinged folks out there

8. Musk also structured the loans so that a fail of Twitter would cost "Twitter" and not himself.

He would lose some of his investment, but nowhere near $44 billion.

Bad News For Tesla Investors As Elon Musk Is Considering Taking Out Tesla-Backed Margin Loan For Twitter

And this brings us back to today. Earlier this morning Bloomberg came out with a report stating “Elon Musk’s bankers are considering providing the billionaire with new margin loans backed by Tesla Inc. stock to replace some of the high-interest debt he layered on Twitter Inc., according to people with knowledge of the matter.”

According to Bloomberg, Musk is reconsidering taking out Tesla-backed margin loans because the $13 billion dollar debt he took out to buy Twitter has an annual interest fee of $1.2 billion and this interest fee is causing stress on the social media platform’s financials.

Given Tesla shares are already down more than 50% year to date, this news will undoubtedly anger Tesla investors who have lost a fortune in 2022.

Having said that, as of now, no final decisions have been made considering the issue and it’s still too early to speculate how this news will affect Tesla shares.

Excellent. Let’s this oversized man baby bury himself even more because his ego won’t let Twitter fail.

Fox was built on misinformation and the steamrolling facts that do not fit its editorial line. Remember Fox News
got us w bush as POTUS by calling the race for him in Florida 2000 and the rest of our corporate controlled media
went along with Fox's bogus call and then the dirty Supreme Court ruled that w deserved some kind of relief be-
cause he would be "embarrassed by the facts" and then in bush v Gore they ruled it was illegal to count all of
Florida's vote.

And even now Fox is promoting an anti LGBT agenda that is nothing more than flat our hate speech and allows
some of their brain dead listeners to think it is just God's will to blow up power stations or show up with ARs in a
residential neighborhood in Columbus, OH.

Fox is a cancer on America and should be labeled as such. Example:

Ainsley Earhardt, Jan. 4, 2021, "Lots of people still have questions about the election."

Nothing has really changed in 10 years even though Murdoch's sons are running it now.

I like how it mentions Hannity was interviewed for seven hours. Also how he describes himself a “talk show host” instead of a journalist. Kind of like when Fox claimed in another lawsuit no one reasonable would believe Tucker Carlson.

I have real hopes the drag all the Faux News dirty laundry and biased news into the open. The end of the “fair and balanced” garbage.
