The Biden administration has staffed up to deal with GOP congressional investigations. In addition, I like the concept of Hunter Biden and his allies being prepared to counterattack these investigators

Hunter Bidens friend and lawyer Kevin Morris was blunt in laying out his thoughts at a strategy session last September on an expected onslaught of investigations by House Republicans: It was crucial, Morris suggested, for Hunter Bidens camp to be more aggressive.
Morris, at the meeting in his California home, described defamation lawsuits the team could pursue against the presidential sons critics, including Fox News, Eric Trump and Rudy Giuliani. He outlined extensive research on two potential witnesses against Hunter Biden a spurned business partner named Tony Bobulinski and a computer repairman named John Paul Mac Isaac.
At one point, Hunter Biden himself happened to call into the meeting, connecting briefly by video to add his own thoughts.
They feel that there is a whole counternarrative missing because of the whole Hunter-hater narrative out there, said liberal activist David Brock, who attended the meeting. What we really got into was more the meat of it, the meat of what a response would look like. Brock was planning for a new group, Facts First USA, focused on fighting the looming House GOP investigations.......
Brocks group, Facts First, is engaging with Hunter Biden and those in his immediate circle. In an October memo, Brock, founder of Media Matters and American Bridge, two influential liberal organizations, described Facts First USA as a SWAT team designed to ensure that the media and public do not accept the false narrative that flows from congressional investigations.
Brock has released a memo calling on Democrats to cast McCarthys embrace of the Hunter Biden investigations as a corrupt bid to court favor with far-right lawmakers whose support McCarthy needs to become House speaker. He is so desperate to run the House he is willing to burn it down, the memo says.

Sadly, this may be the only way to stop them. Appealing to their better angels sure does not work.

A team working on combatting potential legal battles brought against Hunter Biden has floated the possibility of bringing defamation suits against prominent GOP figures, according to a new report.
The Washington Post on Saturday published an in-depth report on the growing effort to plan for and potentially counteract the potential investigations into Hunter Biden once Republicans take control of the U.S. House in January. Hunter Biden, the son of President Joe Biden, has become a figure of intense right-wing scrutiny in recent years over his business dealing and the alleged, but unsubstantiated, claims that his father was involved in them while holding office. The House GOP has repeatedly pledged to launch investigations into Biden's conduct once in power.
The team assembling to combat these potential investigations, according to the Post, prominently involves Kevin Morris, a lawyer and close friend of Hunter Biden. During a September strategy meeting held in California, Morris discussed numerous possibilities. This included defamation lawsuits that could be leveled against conservative entities and individuals who amplified conspiracies about the president's son, including Fox News, Rudy Giuliani, and Eric Trump.
Hunter Biden himself was not present at the meeting but called in briefly to offer input. In addition to working with Morris and others, he has also hired two lawyers to handle potential future legal matters. Chris Clark has been brought on to handle matters related to federal criminal investigations into Biden's business dealings, while Joshua A. Leavy will handle matters relating to House investigations.
