Reacting to a video clip of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) boasting that she and former Donald Trump adviser Steve Bannon would have done a better job leading the mob that stormed the Capitol on Jane 6th, two CNN analysts stated she should be compelled to testify before a grand jury looking into the insurrection.
In a video released over the weekend, a smirking Taylor Greene can be seen telling a laughing crowd, " Then Jan. 6 happened. And next thing you know, I organized the whole thing, along with Steve Bannon here. And I will tell you something, if Steve Bannon and I had organized that, we would have won. Not to mention, it wouldve been armed."
See thats the whole joke, isnt it. They say that whole thing was planned and Im like, are you kidding me? A bunch of conservatives, second amendment supporters, went in the Capitol without guns, and they think that we organized that? she then added.
According to CNN's John Avlon, her comments should send up red flags for investigators looking into the lead-up and aftermath of the Capitol riot that forced lawmakers to flee for their lives.
"What this congresswoman is saying is they were insufficiently armed, she was playing to the crowd but what she is saying is without accountability, failed insurrections are just practice," he told the "CNN This Morning" hosts.
I've said for a while her mouth will get her in trouble. I just hope it is sooner than later.

(8,387 posts)People aren't chosen from some random objective pool to go on news shows and spout opinions.
CNN is in the business of attracting eyeballs, so they can sell commercial time.
Consequently, they find people to tell their audience things they believe their audience wants to hear.
There are going to be zero legal consequences for the MTG's grotesque posturing around J6. Check back in a few months and figure out which "expert" was right.

She is yelling at the coin tossers. They are stuffing bills in her g-string.
What cnn says may be feel good once in a while, but it means nothing. Well, it means she got another 15 minutes of fame.

Wouldnt that be hilarious? They dont think gerrymandering would work, so they mess with the machines. They are so stupid, they accidentally make it so we win, instead of them!!! I would laugh myself silly, if that happened!!!

That should make her ineligible for public office at the very least. That's not protected free speech. So, since it looks like there will be a lot of tsk tsk tsk and sitting on hands, is it possible to file against her in court?

This number is likely a low estimate of the total number of weapons that rioters brought with them. As the Justice Department has noted in court filings, "no crowd member submitted to security screenings or weapons checks by Capitol Police or other authorized security officials." Most of the people who stormed the Capitol were not arrested during the riot itself. Many are still at large.

(5,482 posts)Ok, maybe the first time they elected her, they thought it would be funny -- you know, "we're going to send this big-mouthed, low IQ bimbo to Congress to show our disdain for government".
But when they reelected her, the joke had gone stale. Her district can't be getting any benefit from having her represent them, unless they consider being a laughingstock a benefit.

(3,138 posts)Americans watch the dirty mess grow. So-called Republican anarchists and lawmakers ignore and enable destructive behavior. Democrats, who claim to abhor lying-cheating-stealing, ignore and enable it for different reasons. Permitting tfg to kill everything he touched for six years almost became normalized. We must get our shit together and replace words with action.

(15,909 posts)Those of us who respect the rule of law and the following of proper procedures should expect, nay, even welcome, that MTG facing consequences for openly inciting violence would take YEARS to decide, if ever, otherwise, you know, gosh, it would be a fast slippery-slope into a totalitarian police state.
Much better to sit back while MTG helps bring about her own police state than risk being the bad guys ourselves, acting swiftly and decisively against her assault on democracy in a way that could maybe kinda sorta seem too police-statey, if you, like, take every benefit of the doubt away from people who would go after the likes of MTG, and give MTG and her ilk every possible benefit of the doubt that they aren't much of an imminent threat.

(9,059 posts)If she hasn't already put herself in legal jeopardy concerning January 6th, she'll eventually do so for some future event.
Unfortunately, between now and then there is a lot of mischief to be created by her.
She should be censured by the incoming House for those statements, but the Republicans moral compass hasn't worked for decades, so they won't.
The best thing that could happen to the Democrats would be for her to be elected Speaker of the House so we could all watch her crash and burn in a job with high visibility that needs a unified Republican party in the House to do what passes for a "functioning" majority.
Yeah, she'd create a lot of chaos, and do damage to the House, but she and her buddies will do that anyway, with a gutless Kevin McCarthy in the lead as Speaker taking the flack.
The best way to expose a rat is to shine a light on it.
