QAnon, conspiracy loving 'freedom fighters' execute police in Australia

Four country cops go out to a remote property to do a welfare check. They get ambushed and the two who were wounded are executed, while a third hides in the scrub which the murderers set alight to try to flush her out. Thanks, Trump and that wanker who created QAnon. I lblame you fuckwits totally for this.

I've seen the clip on YouTube of a US cop being murdered by sov cits in a traffic stop, but never dreamed that sort of insanity would take root here

At least that's how I see it.

Here's more. I thought more than one of you would actually give a shit about this. Maybe it's not in the US so it doesn't matter?

When posting between 1 AM and 4AM in the U.S time zones, you may find that responses are a bit slow, and may find us insomniacs to be a little grouchy.

Just pointing out how it appears to someone who's not an American. I posted it in LBN where it probs should have been in the first place then buried amongst threads about Twitter and memes about Trump

I opened the article bc this type of thing interests me, but now I feel the need to respond in the defensive as to why I didn't wake up at 3 am to read and respond to it.

Qanon and conspiracies are bad. It's shocking how many people are being pulled into it worldwide. It scares me, of course.

Twitter/Elon Musk are enabling that trend, so it's all connected, even if we're sick of talking about Elon. (Lord knows I am.)

I forget that the other side of the world is usually asleep while I'm awake. Especially since I used to spend a lot of time on Twitter where it seems like everyone is awake.

I'm so over Musk and his attempts to gain attention. He's fuelling this poison

I used to live in Asia, and my family is on East Coast US time, so that 12 hour time difference was a doozy.

He's definitely fueling this poison, but it's not just him. He may be a dupe. He may be intentional about it. I don't know and I don't care.

What I do care about is that it's spreading like a virus throughout the world. And I don't know how to stomp it out, though I hope people are trying.

That the successful midterm results will begin deflating ambitions from these pitiful, deluded people. That and trump’s legal ones.

The voters have said we do not want you.

Meanwhile these are the tragic human consequences of trump’s dangerous rhetoric.

I wish you guys had mandatory voting as it would bury the MAGA vote so massively. In the recent election here similar parties got around 1% of the vote, tried to claim the election was stolen and were ignored by the 99%

People like the ones in Queensland are members of a cult and I don't know what can be done to bring them back. What bothers me is were a nation with very tight gun control and yet this happened. How much worse and more likely would it be to happen in the US where things are so much looser.

That it is coming from the US.

It’s all about making money from the rubes. Ideology is second: making money is first. The money comes in through donations from trump’s save the country political claims. Bannon, of course, is up for a prison term from a build the wall scam.

The wall scam was sold to the rubes on the basis of keeping immigrants out, appealing to fear that immigrants would take their jobs. Instead, bannon took their money.l

At first I did not realize that it was U.S.-based, and I made a comment to my spouse about it. He, who also watches the news carefully, said that it was the fault of bannon running around the world promoting thieir right wing ideology.

The next day on the news I noticed that at least one commentator was tracing it to Trump and Bannon. And there are probably more, but I did hear this one.

Another item, in addition to what you list above, that I think it’s important to pay attention to, is social media and the ability to lie and spread disinformation so quickly on various platforms. This is free media for them. Prior to this, we had editors who acted as gate keepers.

They have used social media very well to spread rumor, disinformation, and outright propaganda. They are not only aimed at the destabilizing the US, but any place they can amp up racism, anti-Semitism, and nativist ultranationalism in Europe, Asia, and elsewhere.

They are adept at this. They have been engaged in this for years. It has reached a sharper focus since Putin came to power. There are Russian and Chinese elements who keep the Q on a low boil.

This is to say nothing about the bizarre fantasies which drive people like the Proud Boys, Oath Keepers and others. It sometimes seems as if someone bottled the madness of David Koresh and Charles Manson and dosed certain parts of the internet with it.
