(16,159 posts)But there are so many other options out there for electric vehicles - BMW, VW, Volvo, Ford, Chevy........
That his domination of the EV market is bound to dip. Plus there have been a lot of "spontaneous combustion" problems with Teslas.

(17,802 posts)Is that a problem?
Is it a problem to piss off the group of people who would actually buy your cars by promoting a group which is anti-EV in addition to being racist, homophobic and anti-democracy?
They couldn't possibly be related?

(9,068 posts)I can hear the toilet flushing; TSLA is circling the drain.
I feel sorry for the investors, but they should have paid more attention to Musk's words and actions once he acquired Twitter.
Essentially he was a closet Trump Humper, and now he 's come out.
I don't see any positive force that will bring that stock back up. Maybe a few bargain hunters, but it ain't hit bottom yet.

(1,654 posts)reasonably. What if he takes a lot of money out of the company to help back up his crazy Twitter gambits? What if his guarantees on the car are no longer good. He's just so erratic, do you want to invest your money in his company if his company is so much HIM? His being a control freak is turning him into just a freak.

(1,107 posts)we've been getting training on dealing with EV fires, not fun. Not only do you have to make sure you don't get anywhere near the high voltage power supply, you also need to put over 3,000 gallons of water on one to put it out. Even then they can spontaneously reignite. If the tow truck driver pulls the vehicle to the flatbed the power the generators attached to the wheels creates can set the battery on fire again. Then when they get to the repair shop or wrecking yard they can reignite. Watched a department in CA actually dig a hole, fill it with water and drop the Tesla into it in order to get it out once and for all.
I'm kinda hoping the hydrogen powered vehicles catch on. Once they perfect a safe matrix to store hydrogen I think they will be a bit safer and certainly better in cold climates. Interesting to watch it all unfold and hope I don't get in on a call to put out an EV fire any time soon.

(1,204 posts)Here's a battery system that used hundreds of small, smart battery "balls" that can be oriented any way inside a "tank" - so you can just dump them in and walk away.
The idea would be, at a filling station, you would swap out your battery balls for fresh, recharged ones. It would take 2 minutes and you drive away.
This would also seem to mitigate fires since you could simply separate them from each other.

(20,591 posts)and leave the Saudis holding the bag.
At this point, I don't think anyone knows what's going on inside Muskrat's head, including himself.
He could use some mental health intervention, in my opinion.

(10,348 posts)Tesla's repair policies have seen to that! Parts only available from Tesla, "authorized repair" takes place in your driveway. As my friend, a happy Chevy Volt /net zero house kind of guy, says "I ain't dyin' on that anthill!"

(1,375 posts)Tesla just came out with their semi truck and it vastly under performs everything else on the market. Basically, you're getting 1/4 of the range and one quarter of max payload because of the battery weight top that the fact that the batteries are so large that it takes forever to recharge it as opposed to 20 minutes to fill up a diesel tank to get your 2000 mile range as opposed to the 500 mile range of the Tesla.
