(867 posts)I have many pictures of Fireweed but never knew what it looked like after it went to seed.
Great picture and congratulations on the win.

(103,090 posts)I have lots of pictures of both. This was one of my early macros with my first digital camera: Cannon PowerShot 120 SX... or close to that. I was out taking fall pictures and learning how to make the camera take the pictures I wanted.
This was taken about 3mi west of the YNP boundary on the Idaho side of the divide in mid October several years ago.

(37,386 posts)I am honored by getting second place. 2naSalit is a worthy winner.
The nice thing about second place is shows my photo was a big favorite, but I don't have the pressure of coming up with a new contest theme.
There were a lot of great entries, congrats on your placement!
But, it's the Fall contest so I think I don't have to come up with a theme, do I?
I'm prepared to come up with one but I think the winner of the last monthly contest has that honor... I could be mistaken. I just started participating again after a long hiatus.

(37,386 posts)if that is the case, screw you for taking my win with a better photo!
My pleasure, sir!

(6,819 posts)I won only by a nose. I think we had a four-way tie for third toward the end.
Grumpy Old Guy
(4,332 posts)There was a very close competition for third place. They were all great shots.
The funny thing is, out of all the thousands of images that I've taken, this is probably my one and only Autumn shot. I live in L.A., and we just don't get Autumn here. LOL! I've decided that I have to drive up into the mountains next year to catch some fall colors.

(23,972 posts)Whether the digital sensors are just plain better than the old film camera, or the multi-color/sensitivity filters used by HDR.
These three are incredible. Demeter's Harvest is just an extravagant panoply of gorgeous objects, hues, everything.

(4,332 posts)Back in the old days we used great films like Kodachrome, Ektachrome, Kodacolor, Fujichrome, Agfa. etc. I remember them all having great saturation, much better than what we often see on the LCD screens of our digital cameras. However, the look and feel of those old films are easily duplicated now either in the camera or with a minimum of post processing for those who know how to do it. I didn't really enjoy digital photography that much until I learned how to fix what I was getting out of my cameras.
Just my humble opinion.
