'Republicans Are Emasculated': Rand Paul Furious Over Bipartisan Spending Deal

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) declared that Republicans have “emasculated” themselves by agreeing to a major spending deal and complained Republicans aren’t fiscally conservative.

On Tuesday night, leading congressional Democrats and Republicans agreed on a framework to fund the government through most of 2023. The House is expected to vote on the measure Wednesday night. Meanwhile, the Senate could take up the measure as early as Thursday.

Some Republicans have called on their leadership to wait until the next Congress convenes, when the GOP will control the House.

Paul stated he is staunchly opposed to whatever deal emerges. Instead of one large omnibus package, he said Congress should pass 12 separate appropriations bills and that Republicans should temporarily block one or two to gain leverage to enact policy changes

It's called doing your job Randy. You might try it sometime.

Why do today's Republicans consider sitting on their lazy dead ass to be a virtue?

Why does everything with these people have to be expressed in terms of their so-called manhood? Any form of rational compromise is considered weakness (‘emasculation’), which is intolerable to these arrogant aholes.

That was GHW Bush, giving that last, wheezing gasp of "fiscal conservatism" when he made a feeble attempt to staunch the deficit floodgates opened under the Reagan administration.

That was over 30 years ago. Rand Paul was 27 years old and was still in the early (and legitimate) phase of his medical career.

And old enough to have noticed.

that McCarthy cannot gather a functional majority. Shutting the government down because the republican majority cannot function from day 1 with no end in sight, is simply not a good look. So, he prefers to cut a deal that gives the house a year to get their crap in one sock.
