Stanley Tucci's adventures in Italy are officially finito. At least for now.
During his Dec. 14 appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the beloved actor revealed that his Emmy Award-winning food and travel docuseries, Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy, has been put on the chopping block.
"Unfortunately, CNN has canceled all of their original programming. So hopefully we'll end up on another streamer, networkwe don't know," Tucci told Fallon. "But yes, I have plans to do season 3 and more."
Fallon joked, "So Searching for Italy is searching for a new network," to which Tucci responded, "It's not as appetizing."

In its first season, the series starred Daniel Benzali as defense attorney Theodore (Ted) Hoffman, a criminal litigator and the principal of his own firm, Hoffman and Associates. Backed by a cadre of young associates, Hoffman was a gruff, masterful criminal lawyer who zealously represented his clients in high-profile cases. Patricia Clarkson played his wife, Annie. Unique for a television drama at that time, the first season of the series revolved around a single high-profile criminal case. Stanley Tucci played Richard Cross, a charming but morally ambiguous philanthropist and the first man arrested for the murder of Jessica Costello. Bobbie Phillips played Julie Costello, the murder victim's sister and the girlfriend of Richard Cross.

I agree with you. I liked it, too.
My dad worked with a couple brothers at the dairy that shared Stanley's last name.
One of them was a retail driver. (Delivered to the homes, unlike my dad who delivered to the supermarkets.)
The kids in the neighborhoods where he went loved him.
Maybe it's a rule that with the name Tucci, you have to be nice!

(6,185 posts)I haven't watched them since they went crazy - I sure hope Tucci finds another outlet for his show. It was fantastic. And the fact that he grew up in Italy as a young boy and speaks Italian beautifully only gives more credence to the show. He is one of our great actors, I especially liked him in the Lovely Bones.

(3,407 posts)One reason Tucci has risen above the label character actor is that hes just so likable. When hes in a scene, hes the one youre watching. And he cares deeply about the subject.
I suspect a news channel was the wrong place for it. On the Food Network, or one of the streaming platforms, it would be huge.

(133,459 posts)Think anyone/channel can afford such? DO wish PBS could; surely they WOULD, if they could.

(14,097 posts)Discovery+ or some other free streaming channel, if those even exist. I would say put it on Food Network, but they have become the food competition channel. Seems like the only time they have a show with a person cooking on the show its for a few hours on Saturday and Sunday and most of those are repeats.

(68,109 posts)If you haven't watched it, give it a try, A quiet, soothing tone tothe programming. The network is still young so the inventory of programs is such there are reruns. The talent is young but engaging. Tucci could go there and inject real excitement. I could imagine two shows. One focused more on the travel and one focused more on recipes.

(1,495 posts)will be fired or demoted soon. I used to love to watch the night shows on CNN with Anderson, Chris Cuomo, and Don Lemon. I realize that Chris Cuomo was fired for certain reasons, but I did enjoy his show. Now they have Don Lemon in the morning. I don't even bother to watch anymore unless there is some major story breaking. Plus they kept having all the Covid death cultists on like Leana Wen and the other Covid-loving freaks.

(5,689 posts)All they do now is speculate about what Trump is doing all day. Theyre obsessed with him, probably because they feel like it will give them the most ad revenue. They were slobbering over Trumps stupid announcement, like usual.

(32,525 posts)It would be perfect for them. I think Amazon carries it on Prime Video, so maybe they'll take over. Bezos can afford it.
