The Wall Street Journal has published a free, no paywall, easy to follow flipdeck on how to sign up and use Mastodon. This is unprecedented, but so was the birdsite's #JournalistPurge.

I got the app from Google Playstore. And finally I figured out the strangeness of the terminology. I ignore the server thing and hope I find my way to interesting posts.

Try another server. Most are instant sign up. Choose one that says 'create account' vs 'apply for account'

19. I suspect many admins / servers are being swamped with the migration.

As more of the big groups, e.g. corporations and governments, figure out that they can run their own 'instances', it will take pressure off the smaller independent servers.

Took about 5 minutes!
