Sounds like the ethics referral is solely based on refusing subpoenas.

(26,431 posts)named the 4 people. I only remember the names of 3 of them, Giuliani, Eastman, and Meadows.

(2,599 posts)What a historic moment. Four referrals! And referrals for members of Congress for ignoring subpoenas. Raskin has such a commanding presence. He would make a great President (if the opportunity presented itself).

(17,802 posts)Barring that, there would likely be no indication anything comes of it. But because they involve tfg and his band f elites, it would go to smith if any action was investigated.

(22,859 posts)Garland has given him the authority to act as he sees fit. I see no reason to assume he doesn't mean to use it.

(8,820 posts)Garland has the final say on whether or not to indict. Smith can conduct the investigation as he sees fit.
ShazzieB
(22,859 posts)Later, he added the following: "As special counsel, he will exercise independent prosecutorial judgment to decide whether charges should be brought."
The full text of Garland's statement is available in multiple sources. I'm quoting from this source: https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2022/11/18/transcript-merrick-garland-jack-smith-special-prosecutor/10728962002/
It sounds to me like Smith has been given a great deal of independence, including the authority to prosecute as he sees fit. Nowhere does Garland say Smith won't be able to prosecute someone without Garland's approval, and saying he will "exercise independent prosecutorial judgment to decide whether charges should be brought" indicates the opposite to me.

These J6 Referral were Critical as:
A Statement of Truth,
A Declaration of Consequences,
To be Etched in History.
