Social Security payments for my wife and I will increase $250

$131 increase in my monthly payment and a $119 a month increase for my wife . I'm expecting my VA pension to go up by about $10.

Hoping that others here whose main source of income is SS will also see a good increase.

I thought they have the same inflation adjustments?

And my mom's Social Security and Aid and Attendance (from VA) are both going up by a bit over $100/mo or so, and in conjunction with me putting her on a better Medicare Advantage plan that has $0 monthly premiums, she should be seeing around $350-$400/mo extra. That is a HUGE help.

From the online letter I received:

Your 2023 Social Security Cost of Living Adjustment
Your Social Security benefit will increase by 8.7% in 2023 because of a rise in the cost of living. You can use this letter as proof of your benefit amount if you need to apply for food, rent, or energy assistance. You can also use it to apply for bank loans or for other business. Keep this letter with your important financial records.

I took large distributions from my IRA to help my daughter buy a house. So my income was inflated resulting in 85% of my Social Security being taxable, my Medicare contribution tripling, and hitting a higher tax bracket. Now that’s all in the past and with the SS COLA, my monthly payment is several hundred dollars more!
