I have no interest in seeing Trump's tax returns...

Absent a criminal violation (which "the public" isn't going to find if the IRS hasn't) there is nothing about his sources of income, his deductions, his donations to charity, his net worth, etc, that is going to tell me something about him that I didn't already know.

The bottom line is that the average voter doesn't care. His refusal to make tax returns available (which is only something done in the last 40 years or so) was essentially litigated in the 2016 Election.

They'll relate to him lying on his tax returns vs themselves being honest about it for example
Or they'll be turned off by the evidence that he lied about being audited

It's like a wedge issue with his base - each one of these things peel a few more folks away to erode his support.

I do realize he has some deadheads who will remain blind to all of this.
But things like this will get some of his supporters.

Many of the people he did business with will comb through to see if/how they may have been ripped off by Trump. For example, a person/Company that did business with him would be able to counter Trump’s official filing declaring a loss knowing that it was a false declaration.

People who support him won't have their minds changed.

People who oppose him won't have their minds changed.

Low-engagement voters in the middle won't care about this as opposed to the political issues which affect them.

Bottom line, everyone has a baked in opinion of Trump's character.

He signed a loan application saying one thing.
Days later, he signs a tax return saying something else.

Maybe he lied to the courts.
Maybe he lied on his disclosures to assume office.

He's a chronic liar.
Who is he going to blame for his bogus tax returns?
Even MAGAts know who signs their tax returns.

Stuff like this can help a cascade of crap to land on him.

And to just dismiss it away as 'voters won't care' is absurd...some absolutely will, especially if it chips away at the myth he's built around himself, and particularly if he's revealed as a financial charlatan. And, if as you say, voters have already made up their minds about him, how does it hurt? It doesn't. Pile on this fucker from every angle and with everything you've got until he dies, is in jail, or withdraws from public life. He has squandered any semblance of courtesy he may have once deserved.

Only one Trump tax return as president got mandatory IRS audit, report says

If the returns haven't been audited, how are you so sure that the IRS would have found whatever there might be to find?

… as outright bullshit. I think he was barely a millionaire before he ran for office. He licensed his name for a living.

His cult worships him partly - perhaps even mostly - because he held himself out a a successful, obscenely wealthy dick who did and said whatever he wanted. They wanted to be like that too. So I do think that if that is exposed as part of his con, it’ll peel off some support.

It reports yearly income. A very wealthy person with little income will not necessarily show their wealth on their return.

And yearly income can come in may different forms. Such as stocks, interest accounts, property transactions etc. There are many many things that are taxed that aren't typical "income".

he ran everything for his benefit -- such as forcing secret service to book themselves at top dollar in his resorts, etc. His taxes are important historically looking forward so that hopefully we can avoid this abomination in the future. Everything doesn't exist for the purpose of swaying voters. Besides, this info. may influence people in the long term if not the short term.
