(33,643 posts)And given how 'drafts' generally go down in the USA ... a lot them (or their offspring) would've been off fighting for the Allies whether they liked it or not. Hell a lot of them would've already been in the military.
A lot of them would've been rooting for the Nazi's prior to the attack on Pearl Harbor and the alliance between Germany and Japan that came soon after, but once those two things happened, I don't think MAGA's by and large would've been pro-Axis.
IMHO, this is by nature such an anachronistic question that's it's really unanswerable. It's kinda like, could the '72 Dolphins have beaten any Super Bowl winner of the past decade?
Too much has changed to answer that. Same with this question.

(297 posts)the family made money off their German connections for decades after the war. The whole story so far as known now is at this link.

(38,162 posts)George H W Bush had to fight in the Pacific because he certainly could not fight his family friends in Germany.
Just a theory.

(5,104 posts)combat fighter-pilot who nearly died fighting fascists in the Pacific (and who lost so many squadron mates in the Pacific, and friends in both theatres).
Men (and women) fought where their respective services sent them. All risked their lives. All fought fascism.

(5,104 posts)who also had a powerful father who appeased Nazis.
It is rather disgusting to smear those who risked their lives to fight fascism due to the sins of their fathers or the theater of war they were sent to fight in.
Really not cool.

Kennedy rejected the belief of Winston Churchill that any compromise with Nazi Germany was impossible. Instead, he supported Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain's policy of appeasement. Throughout 1938, while the Nazi persecution of the Jews in Germany intensified, Kennedy attempted to arrange a meeting with Adolf Hitler.[47] Shortly before the Nazi bombing of British cities began in September 1940, Kennedy once again sought a personal meeting with Hitler without the approval of the U. S. Department of State, in order to "bring about a better understanding between the United States and Germany".[48]

Kennedy did not want the US to provide military support to Great Britain. When London was bombed, he took off with his family. The Brits were not too pleased with him. Roosevelt recalled him. Kennedy had a bit of Lindberg "influence".

(22,975 posts)...Probably 3/4's of them had strong sympathy for Axis ideology (less than that would have backed the holocaust had they known of it at the time), but a good number are hard wired knee jerk "patriots" who would have sided with the Allies after America was attacked at Pearl Harbor.

(412 posts)With their extreme nationalism and white supremecy there is no doubt in my mind they would have been part of the Axis alliance.

In the late 1700's. The exact same segment that was against entering WWI and as pointed out above, the exact same segment that Rachel Maddow is referencing in her "Ultra" podcast series, which I HEARTILY recommend listening to.
The same segment that was or still is:
Against giving women the right to vote.
Against desegregation.
Against the Civil Rights Act.
Against Unions and the right of workers to form one.
Against all of "The New Deal" programs.
Against every single program that provided for basic needs such as food, shelter, education, and healthcare to residents of the U.S.
Against Public Schools.
Against Publicly funded or guaranteed unemployment and disability insurance.
Against subsidies for housing, pensions, and health insurance programs.
Against Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and the Children's Health Insurance Program.
Against Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP or "Food Stamps" )
Against virtually every single social and economic program the benefited the masses from the very first one to today.
The American Progressive has been dragging these assholes, kicking and screaming, into the future for 250 years.
NONE OF THIS SHOULD BE A SURPRISE TO ANYONE.

There were plenty of Hitler loving assholes in America in 1941.

(37,194 posts)I mean, anyone who's been around conservatives long enough gets to realize how big a chunk of them's main beef with the Nazis was that they were "the other team." And really, they would have preferred teaming up with them to end the Commie Reds.
