I am shocked that people who actually bought Musk's messiah complex fatwa, "I MUST SAVE FREE SPEECH AND BY DOING SO THE WORLD."
If you've been following along, Democrats...including, but not limited to Elizabeth Warren...publicly stated that Musk, Bezos and their ilk should pay their fair share in taxes.
Suddenly, Musk becomes an outspoken advocate for Republicans and buys Twitter, restoring Trump, Kanye West, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Mike Lindell, and assorted Nazis.
What hastened my departure is that I can guarantee Musk had the algorithm changed to display more far-right content.
I started seeing EVERY TWEET from Kevin McCarthy, among others, and the tweets would stay at the top of my feed for hours after they were first posted. The rationale is that JOURNALISTS and DEMOCRATIC POLITICIANS I followed followed them.
This never happened BEFORE Musk slithered onto the scene, and BEGAN HAPPENING soon after his arrival.
His entire "SAVE THE WORLD" bullshit is on par with Trump's "Big Lie." He's an arrogant, authoritarian troll...nothing more, nothing less.

(18,837 posts)I don't plan to invest a lot of time there. I signed up as an alternative to Twitter but so far I'm not enjoying it much.

(43,123 posts)It shortened attention span, minimized reason and logic, dumbed and numbed the brain. I don't miss it either, though my account is still in existence.

(13,421 posts)TOO MUCH crap was flooding my feed and I couldn't block all the assholes fast enough. I miss reading some folks, but not enough to deal with all the WTF/STFU moments I was having there every day. I'm on Tribel and Post both, and have not developed much of a news feed on either yet. Mastadon sounds like a total pain to set up.
