They strive to get elected and then cause as much destruction as possible.
I consider them my enemies.

(17,215 posts)I grew up there. Don't know how old you are but I remember the blizzard of 1978. Watched a YouTube video of that event last night just for fun and to bring back memories. They weren't as prepared for blizzards as they are now.

(38,050 posts)I was supposed to student teach in the spring semester for a certain number of hours. No allowance for being sick. Unfortunately, over winter break I was diagnosed with mononucleosis, and not allowed out for the first week of the semester. Since the blizzard shut down everything and student teaching was impossible, the state allowed me to get my teaching certificate.
I taught in an inner city school for the next 11 years, which would have been impossible without a teaching certificate.

Didn't do too bad with the snow. Only 6 or 7 inches with three foot drifts.
Yep, 45 degrees last night, raining.
This morning it is snowing, -5 degrees, windchill -32.
And then Thursday back to 50 degrees. Crazy.
Edit to correct snowdrift size, just looked out my front window!

(18,579 posts)AccuWeather just said, snow for the next 5 hours. The freeways 75 and 70 are a mess. Pile up on 70, close to my cut off. Driving, 19 to 25 miles an hour around Dayton.

(78,697 posts)South of Dayton towards Cinci.
Three foot snow drifts.
Weather online says no more snow, but hard to tell since there is so much blowing snow.
Now it is -9 degrees, -33 wind-chill.
Sounds like the interstates are a mess.
This is crazy.

My street and drive way just got plowed, it should be ok.
But it is going to be very cold, I don't know how far you have to travel.
Yes next weekend should be great.

(33,037 posts)Skies clearing after it rained all day yesterday with temps predicted to rapidly fall to the 20's during the day to 10 overnight.
I just went out and sprinkled birdseed buffet along the retaining wall in my courtyard. Flock of juncos immediately flew in as soon as I went inside. Expect to see Blue birds and doves shortly. Some days I get as many as 14 doves at a time.
Edit: About an hour later a gust of about 45-50 mph came through. Blew over my lit, decorative stick tree that was staked to soil in a whiskey barrel pot WITH both a paving brick and rock on top of its stand. Also blew over a wrought iron glider loveseat without any cushions on it. I'd have thought the wind would go right through it. Nope. Brought the decorative tree into the garage and left the glider on its side. Sleet came down about 10 minutes later.

(14,703 posts)In the winter they have access to the garage where there are a bunch of little heated tent beds for them. It was so good to see them all present and accounted for in their snuggly little beds. I even heated their breakfast before taking their little bowls to them. Theyre quite spoiled.
I was wearing just a long sleeve hoodie and boy was it cold! I had to spend a few minutes checking on my tender plants to make sure their blankets were still in place.
I think I need a Hot Toddie now!

(75,549 posts)Minus 7 this morning with wind chill colder than minus 30.
The snow was much lighter than was expected.
Really windy here, though so the 2 or so inches we got is blowing everywhere.
But, starting next Wednesday, high temps of 43F or higher for 6 straight days.

(20,203 posts)My drive to work was surprisingly good at 3am, not nearly as much drifting snow as I thought there would be since we're out in the country with lots of open fields.
My absolutely insane 12 yr old was out on her swing set yesterday afternoon when it was "only" -3F with a -20F windchill. She takes after me I guess, hardy German farmer stock
I'm seeing reports that up around Duluth they're expecting gusts of 60-80 mph coming off Lake Superior today. I don't even want to know what wind chill numbers that would generate!

(12,342 posts)Presumably the high for the day. That's in Delaware County, PA.(eastern part of the state).
The forecast is calling for temps in the teens to single digits by this evening with possible snow and high winds. But I also just received a lightening alert on my phone. So maybe we'll have thunder snow which is something we had several times in TN. (more thunder than snow).
Bundle up, everyone!

(452 posts)I was a senior in high school. It looked like a beautiful morning. My mother sent me off to school. I had to walk because I lived just short of 2 miles from the school. I got to school and it was closed. I walked home and my mother was very upset. She hadn't turned on the tv that morning. After I had left she turned on the tv and learned that schools were closed because it was -14 degrees with a wind chill of -24 degrees. At least it wasn't snowing.
