After the Senate approved a $1.7 trillion omnibus spending bill this Thursday, debate between lawmakers on the House floor got heated as Texas GOP Rep. Chip Roy slammed Democrats for refusing to explain how they plan to "borrow money we don't have."
"Everything the American people are watching right now is a complete sham!" Roy said. "It's a fraud -- a fraud being perpetrated on the American people right before their eyes!"
Roy's tirade went on for over five minutes before Massachusetts Rep. Jim McGovern (D) was recognized to speak. At the outset of his comments, McGovern poked fun at Roy over his angry rant.

Hey Chipper.....got a couples of questions for you....how much dark money to get from the Federalist Society and Judicial Crises Network to stand in the house floor to make a complete ass out of yourself, because 1) you thought that the citizens of this country shouldn't be able to vote because you signed a letter stating so , and in my opinion under the Constitution Amendment 14 Section 3 your treasonous ass should not even be in office let alone screaming like a idiot.....and 2) did you or did you not vote to give the fucking fat cats that already don't pay anything in taxes give them a 1.7 TRILLION tax cut in 2017.......well by golly you did.....so go pound sand......

(82,849 posts)I first heard that phrase in college, and the professor had to explain that it meant a futile gesture. Still works all these years later.

(65,281 posts)..."...borrowing money we don't have." is the dumbest part of his rant.
All borrowing is to get money that the borrower doesn't have.
Yeah, rich people and companies borrow, but that's to make more than the interest. But, they don't have the money they're borrowing. That's why they call it borrowing.
Boy, he's stupid.

He did not say any of that below the link.

(343 posts)You have said words that I wish I had said. I am sick of Republicans grasping at straws to manipulate voters. Rep. McGovern, thank you for your words of truth and turbinetree, thank you for posting the truth. The Republicans can't stand that you are right.
