A little shout out to Occupy

For all its faults, Occupy helped to change the narrative, put the focus on the growing inequality in the US and showed that the voice of the people was much more than Faux/Tea Party chatter. For example, the 47% video is less compelling if it is not set against the backdrop they helped to create.

to bring the income inequality issue into the public dialogue and consciousness.

Politicians use it now themselves, and most of all, they stopped the talk of Austerity. I think when the PTBs looked at the polls on the issues, especially Dems who were talking Austerity, Share the Sacrifice etc. until OWS came along, they decided they better stop. Because the polls showed that over 80% of the public agreed with OWS regarding the inequality in this country.

As I watched some of the more egregious Republicans lose their seats last nightm I was trying to figure out how much of it was due to OWS

I wrote this in January:

...Even if (the Republicans) do succeed at force-feeding us Romney at their convention, the Occupy/99 Percent movement has turned him into the ultimate one percenter. That is to say, Mitt Romney is the wrong candidate at the wrong time -- once again.
