Jenna Ellis, the Colorado attorney who represented former President Donald Trump as he tried to overturn the 2020 election, is under investigation by the Colorado Office of Attorney Regulation Counsel.
Ellis has been the target of formal complaints regarding what critics characterized as her professional misconduct connected to Trumps effort to reverse the results of a free and fair election. In May a complaint from the States United Democracy Center, a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit, asked Colorado Attorney Regulation Counsel Jessica Yates to investigate Ellis for multiple alleged violations of professional rules and impose possible substantial professional discipline.
The status of this complaint is that it is pending with our office, Yates wrote to Newsline Friday in an emailed response to questions about the complaint.
The complaint had previously been reported. This is believed to be the first time the existence of an investigation of Ellis has been reported.
Attempts to reach Ellis for comment Friday, at The Jenna Ellis Show and elsewhere, were not successful.

On Tuesday a Colorado judge ordered Ellis to comply with a Georgia grand jurys subpoena requiring her to appear for questioning about her role in the Trump campaigns attempt to overturn that states 2020 election results. During the hearing Ellis told the judge she has travel planned to Missouri this week.
Ellis appears on a promotional image for the event, as part of its opening session, How We Got Here. She appears alongside Dr. Douglas Frank, a former high school math teacher who claims to have discovered an algorithm that hackers inserted into nearly every election machine in the country in order to steal the election. Frank conducted some of his earliest presentations in Colorado back in April of last year.

Didn't realize that CO was where she was on the bar... This should have happened a long time ago like when it finally got going with Ghouliani (in NY and now D.C. with the latter jurisdiction's recommendation of disbarment, which will be decided sometime by early March).

More and more of the attorneys involved with tRump and the attempted insurrection are facing legal and/or professional consequences.

(58,785 posts)This is a state attorney regulation body, though, not the state AG or federal prosecutor. I won't hold my breath for the denoument of her drama since my impression has been that usually an attorney could shoot someone on Fifth Avenue and get away with it, at most a temporary suspension of their license.
Still, each new report that authorities at any level are going after these people tends to brighten my day.

Ellis, 36, found fame on Fox News defending the president before joining his legal team's effort to overturn the election.
She was subject to profiles in The New York Times and Wall Street Journal, who questioned her billing herself as a 'constitutional lawyer' and traces her rapid rise from the Colorado legal system to the president's defender.
The pieces question her credentials to be an election lawyer as Trump and his team claim voter fraud, which they have yet to show proof for, and try to overturn the results.
