(57,660 posts)Apparently it is because this toot is on a different Mastodon server (mastodon. lol) than the one I opened my account on (mstdn.social).
So do I have to create a new account on this server? Or is there a way to link this server to my account? There appear to be thousands of Mastodon servers, so adding them all is kinda not possible...

(50,981 posts)If you want to interact with post like to boost it or reply to it then sign in to your own mastodon instance and paste the author address below into your explore/search/magnifier dialog. When you search like that you can navigate the the authors page on your own server and interact with their posts. I assume you are clicking sign in to do something more than read the post. Hope that helps. You can also go to the link above and click on the authors icon to see their profile and copy their address, see more of their activity etc. but to interact you just need to plug their address into your mastodon server search. Give it a try. If its still not making sense I could take some screenshots to demonstrate later.

(57,660 posts)That does look helpful though. Wonder why Mastodon didn't automatically set it up with this app/functionality.
