Marjorie Taylor Greene smears Biden family to call for bombing raids against Mexico

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) called for bombing raids in Mexico to curtail illegal drug trafficking.

The Georgia Republican revived a plan floated by Donald Trump, based accounts written in books by former defense secretary Mark Esper and New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman, to conduct targeted missile strikes against Mexican drug cartels.

"President Trump was right," Greene tweeted. "We should bomb the cartel’s because they are an international criminal organization murdering our people by lacing deadly fentanyl from China in drugs they illegally sell across our border to US citizens. Not Mexico or it’s [sic] great people, the cartels."

Greene offered a possible preview of the incoming Republican majority's legislative priorities in a series of tweets blaming President Joe Biden and his son Hunter for the explosion in fentanyl use that began during Trump's presidency.

No amount of pwning the libs is going to offset the brand damage MTG, Boebert, Jordan, et al are going to do. It took awhile for the media to come out and plainly call TFG a liar and the idiots taking over the House may get some slack initially, too. But at some point soon they'll have 'crazy'd' themselves out of the media's good graces. Hope the pubs choke on it.

We live in degenerate times. That Liar Santos is just the latest example of how degenerate Republicans are.

Hey Margie: To bomb cartels in Mexico, or anywhere else in the world, requires a declaration of war from Congress. I know that your hero Big Loser thought he could do whatever he pleased, but noooooooo. If you want Biden to bomb anywhere, you go get the rest of Congress to declare war.

11. Synthetic opioid deaths are 18 times more than they were in 2013
Wed Dec 28, 2022, 02:27 PM
Dec 2022

(Apparently even with these numbers unintentional deaths from drugs don't even rank in the top 10 for people 18-24)

"In 2021, nearly 108,000 people died of drug overdoses; 71,000 of whom died from fentanyl or fentanyl-related substances. Illicit fentanyl overdose deaths among teens accounted for 77% of adolescent overdose deaths in 2021."

https://www.cdc.gov/opioids/basics/fentanyl.html

"Rates of overdose deaths involving synthetic opioids other than methadone, which includes fentanyl and fentanyl analogs, increased over 56% from 2019 to 2020. The number of overdose deaths involving synthetic opioids in 2020 was more than 18 times the number in 2013. More than 56,000 people died from overdoses involving synthetic opioids in 2020. The latest provisional drug overdose death counts through June 2021 suggest an acceleration of overdose deaths during the COVID-19 pandemic."

What can be done?

The increase in overdose deaths highlights the need to ensure people most at risk of overdose can access care, as well as the need to expand prevention and response activities. CDC issued a Health Alert Network Advisory to medical and public health professionals, first responders, harm reduction organizations, and other community partners recommending the following actions as appropriate based on local needs and characteristics:

Expand distribution and use of naloxone and overdose prevention education
Expand awareness about and access to and availability of treatment for substance use disorders
Intervene early with individuals at highest risk for overdose
Improve detection of overdose outbreaks to facilitate more effective response

High school kids who think they’re getting a single Percocet from another high schooler get found dead in the school bathroom.

The latest big haul in California turned out to be enough to kill everybody in the half-dozen biggest counties in the state.

I do not know what the manufacturers think they are getting out of this — but it doesn’t look like they care much about return business.

which seems just a little odd. Anything where they can step on the real drug and substitute synthetic crap for it, I guess, while preserving some sort of high.

All of it is originating in China and most of what's coming into the US is routed through Mexico. That shit is also destroying Mexico, since so many dealers end up sampling the goods and never know when some of it was badly mixed.

They really need to attack this at the source, China, but Republicans have fought that idea tooth and nail for decades. It's getting to the point they are going to be overruled because that shit is now in everything on the street and no, it's not killing the right people. There are no right people to kill with bad drugs.

consider such an action since it is the drug cartels that cause so many immigrants coming to our shores seeking asylum from these dangerous cartels.

I don't know enough about how that would work because someone has to make the stuff. But if they decriminalized the drugs it seems like there would be a lot less crime - I think.

It has spawned an enormous black market, with heavily guarded growing compounds in rural areas, depending on captive labor and theft of water rights. I think we need to act as a nation, like we should for firearm regulation. Chicago may have regulation of firearms, but that makes it a very profitable black market for firearm manufacturers and sellers who flood the city from outside. Legalized cannabis in one state provides a base for the cartels to create black markets in states that still treat cannabis as a criminal matter.

7. Supreme Court asked to bar punishment for acquitted conduct
Wed Dec 28, 2022, 02:22 PM
Dec 2022

WASHINGTON (AP) — A jury convicted Dayonta McClinton of robbing a CVS pharmacy but acquitted him of murder. A judge gave McClinton an extra 13 years in prison for the killing anyway.

In courtrooms across America, defendants get additional prison time for crimes that juries found they didn't commit.

The Supreme Court is being asked, again, to put an end to the practice. It's possible that the newest member of the court and a former federal public defender, Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, could hold a pivotal vote.

McClinton's case and three others just like it are scheduled to be discussed when the justices next meet in private on Jan. 6.

on any drug issue - the demand for the drugs is from the US, those are individual people deciding to take illegal drugs - what happened to personal responsibility, conservatives? If you don't want to be addicted to drug, don't do drugs in the first place. Just say no, it's that easy.

It is like when conservatives suddenly care about needy veterans or the homeless - only when they want to claim illegal aliens are getting help before them.

I’m no longer on Twitter. (Don’t miss it, btw.) I cannot retrieve the tweet thread and, frankly, don’t want to. I heard about this nonsense in greater detail on MSNBC last night. So I apologize for not linking.

But I’m here to say that after the Russian interference in the 2016 election I no longer see these outlandish sorts of statements as unrelated. I am aware that some could accuse me of being a conspiracy theorist. Well, sometimes conspiracies exist. Witness Jan. 6, 2021. I think it’s possible this nonsense will be a new rallying cry for the far right Putin lovers who might see destabilization as opportunity. Is MTG just a nut or something more sinister?
